I didn''t want to hijack Gypsy''s thread, but I was really excited about my floral samples and wanted to share. They are a little rough -- we were working with their sample stock that gets used and reused, so some of the flowers were not in optimum shape, but you get an idea.

My bouquet...

here''s where it gets a little conceptual. the theme idea is city park, so we went with grass and trees. here is the high (tree) centerpiece idea.

closeup of the high centerpiece base -- it will be neater (this was a quick mockup) and will probably have more of an orangey-rust mum instead of the daisy type, but that was all they had in since they''re out of season.

Oh I LOVE the trees!! I just adore them. Everything looks so beautiful. I''m not crazy about the mums though (the flower, I realize the color is going to change)... would a different flower be possible?

low centerpiece mockup -- i''ve tried to put in the lantern we''ll be using over the thing that was standing in for it. i don''t have photoshop so this was my sad attempt at doing it using paint.

Oh I love that idea too! will you be putting flowers into the grass as well?

Gypsy -- i''m glad you like them -- you''ve got great taste! I love that you are also doing something more modern. The structural look of using a lot of curly willow isn''t for everyone, but I love it.
We will be doing flowers in the corner of the grass diagonally opposite the lamp. They will be put in to look like they''re growing.
I hear you on these mums -- i pictured something more like the ones below that are less daisy-looking. I think these are a bit too cutesy. I think really do want mums, though. They are one of the first things I think of when I think of fall. We tried roses, and that looked silly. We tried ranunculus too, but they are more expensive than the roses. Any other suggestions for something with good solid stem that would look relatively natural?

Hmm. I was going to suggest the ranunculus, but they are pricier, so I totally understand. How about either tiny spray roses or just adding some of the seeding euc to the mums (or berries) for some texture.

I am admittedly not a mum fan though. I love spider mums and football mums (which I am considering as a peony alternative) but that's about it.

I like those mums you posted much better. Can you include some greens with them, so it looks like they have leaves?

we are definitely using seeded euch in the base to add some texture, though we were doing it in clumps rather than specifically around the flowers. we could try small roses, if they were open. i will ask about that. or maybe doing some other sort of green to add a backing of sorts to the mums to make them feel more substantial? do they do mini spider mums? that might be interesting. thanks for the ideas!!

Anytime. Can''t WAIT to see the final pics. I love flowers.

I am SO digging your trees by the way. They are SO AWESOME!

I love the bouquet! I am not a tree person, but nice trees! I think they definitely fit well with your reception theme.

thanks, sjs. the trees aren''t something that everyone would want for their own wedding, but they are exactly what i think we''ll need to pull off the theme without having to rent a whole boatload of ficuses.

i LOVE it all. you have awesome taste

Your bouquet looks delicious! I LOVE it. It looks like you had fun with the florist, you both did a great job with everything.

I really really love both centerpiece ideas. I think they''re fabulous!

thanks!! always nice to have a little back patting in this process!

CJ -- i DID have fun with the florist. we played with the flowers for nearly 3 hours, and this was BEFORE i hired him. it made the decision a cinch. i was really way more into the centerpieces initially, and the bouquet was an afterthought, but when we put that together i actually got teary. i was shocked -- i didn''t think i''d care about what i was carrying. but now i''m psyched. and we''ll use it as a centerpiece on our sweetheart table, so it won''t go to waste after the ceremony.

Oh wow those are so pretty. I love the tall centerpieces. The colors you picked are just wonderful.

Your bouquet looks great...I''m gonna save that for inspiration

Great job with everything so far!
I agree with using a different flower at the base of the centerpiece...but I don''t really know flowers so I''m no help.

That is so creative! I love your idea about the city park look!

I love the bouquets! They''re so beautiful. Your theme all seems to be tying in together-it will look great!

Wow - the colours in your bouquet are so pretty!! I love the warm oranges, and scarlets... yummy.

your flowers are going to be gorgous

Oh, fantastic!

Love your centerpieces for the theme. Everything look great.
