For Sale, Various Gold, Diamond, etc. Rings & Earrings

I’m still interested! I can’t find you on Loupetroup?

I just made an account a couple of hours ago. My name on there is EmeraldCity. I haven't listed anything yet because I don't know how to price anything. I am going to have my jeweler appraise everything and then come back with listings and pricing :) I really appreciate your patience right now! I am new to this and I should have gone to the jeweler first, but hindsight is 20/20. Sorry about that, everyone!

@Marriedbuteloped I was mistaken about the stone in #32, I'm happy to say! It is cut quite symmetrically. My mother had a sterling silver ring with a fake blue stone in it that looks almost identical to this one, and I mixed them up in my memory. I hope you're okay with the stone being cut symmetrically :)

I took a close-up picture of #32 and some of the other pieces you expressed interest in, just to make sure you see what you are getting. #31 is stamped 14K, but the finishing is not the best. I am not 100% sure it is solid 14K, based on the finishing, so I can't wait to hear what the jeweler thinks! I also wanted to make sure you saw #40 better, as the detailing is quite pretty.

I hope the photos help :) All the pieces need a good cleaning; I do apologise for the smudges. I will make sure all pieces are cleaned thoroughly before they are sent out. Here are the ring sizes:
#24 - 8
#26 - 7.75
#31 - 8.5
#32 - 6.5

Thank you for putting so much work in and taking new pictures, now I am even more excited. Also about the symmetric cut ring. :-) So yes, I will take them.

No problem, take your time!

@Marriedbuteloped I'm so glad! No worries, it's fun taking picture of jewelry :) I'm glad it helped! It is better to see the gallery, it makes a difference.

@Nymf Thank you for your patience! :) Very much appreciated. I am still sorry it's taking so long, everyone!

I have an appointment on Wednesday, Jan. 27 to finally get the pieces looked at by my jeweler. I am very curious to hear what he has to say. I am hoping to get the pearl necklace with the diamond clasp that I posted about previously appraised, and depending on how much that is worth, it is probably going on the market.

Update, I sold #21 locally. It's off the market!

I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery(ies). Hope things turn around for the best

@lala646 I really appreciate your saying that!!

I will see if I can find the stamp on 6 in better lighting and I'll let you know what it is. If I can't, I'll get the jeweler to tell me :)

I should have written ring sizes on there! I'm so silly sometimes.
#19 - 8.5
#28 - 7.5
#39 - Just shy of 8.5

Please let me know if you're still interested :) Thank you so much for your kind words!

8.5 is right in my wheelhouse, so I would have to skip #28 (regrettably) but still interested in #19 and #39, in addition to #3 and #6, of course.

interested in 17 & 28

Thank you, kind stranger! It is such a long road. I just learned there might even be a second surgery in my future, but I am putting my all into physical therapy & hope I can avoid it!!

Awesome! :) I am about an 8-8.5 right now, too. I have a bunch of silver rings in size 7 I regrettably cannot wear at the moment.

Please let me know if you would like additional photographs of any of the pieces :) I'd be happy to take more! That goes for everyone else, too!

interested in 17 & 28

Hi! :) @Efleon has called dibs on 17 & 28, but I'll let you know immediately if that changes :) Thank you for looking at my collection! I really appreciate the time people take to look at the pieces.

Update: So today was kind of a perfect storm of sorts. I have spent the last few days in a very bad pain flare from physical therapy, feeling like red-hot pincers were stabbing me in the lumbar facet joints & coccyx. I tried to sleep as much as I could. I did not feel up to going anywhere today but it turned out my husband had a work crisis and couldn't take me to the jeweler anyway. I called to reschedule with the jeweler for Friday, 1/29 and he was actually glad because he had a custom order he needed to finish today. So I will meet with him Friday, and I clarified with my husband that if I am still in a pain flare, he will go on without me, because I hate having to delay like this. You all are so patient and nice and I appreciate this SO much!!

So sorry to hear that you are going through so much @Emerald City and I am sure that we all understand, your health comes first. Try to take it easy.

Your health comes first! I hope you feel a bit better soon..

We will be here, no rush.

@maryjane04 , @Nymf , @Efleon Thank you for your encouragement and your kind words. They brought a smile to my face on a rough day.

The time with the jeweler brought some revelations, some great & some disappointing. I guess I was expecting a mixed bag, and I got it! I am going to write the information I discovered today about each piece and those who requested a piece might feel differently about it in light of new information, so please let me know if you've changed your mind about a piece. There were also a handful of pieces he didn't have time to look at in depth, so if they're still of interest, I'll make an additional appointment to have them examined more thoroughly. I'm posting the photo again so people can easily refer to it while they read the updates on each item.

1: Findings/wires are 14K gold-filled, turquoise is not real. It's apparently a good fake, though! Jeweler thought they looked real but his on-site gemologist confirmed fakes.
2: Not gold at all, possibly gold-plated though.
3: No change
4: I colour, VS1 or VS2 (forgot which one), almost 1/2cttw. Jeweler was supposed to replace backings (for these & item no. 5) but he forgot & I didn't notice until we got home. I would like to take these back next week & replace the backings with 14K metal ones before I sell them.
5: Just over 1/4cttw. Same backing situation as with no. 4.
6: No change
7: 925, real sapphires confirmed
8: 925, white CZs, green stones still unknown
9: 925 with 12K gold leaves & real lapis stone
10: 925 with real pearl, red stones still unknown (probably rubies)
11: 925, probably fake turquoise, gold-plated leaf accents
12: 925, amethyst main stone, blue stones either aquamarines or topaz
13: 925, glass 'stones'
14: No change
15: 14K, diamonds add up to just over 1cttw. Jeweler said this is a "dinner ring" and the style is no longer en vogue. I must say, I have never eaten dinner wearing this ring, so apparently I am not doing it justice! ;)2
16: 10K, garnet main stone
17: No change; bad news, though: ring is cracked under gallery and needs repairs, so I'm no longer comfortable selling it right now
18: No change
19: Single-cut diamonds; very nicely made ring according to jeweler. Another customer actually asked if she could purchase it from me because it looked almost identical to a ring her grandmother had but lost. She offered me more than what the jeweler estimated its worth to be but I wasn't sure if I should sell it to her after offering it here. Is that okay, or would that be frowned upon? I am new to this and I don't want to break any rules! I'm also sorry if it's inappropriate to even ask this.
20: No change (though he confirmed what I already knew, 925 despite no markings)
(21 was already sold)
22: 14K gold, diamonds, main stone is RUBY, not garnet! My mother never knew!
23: Main stones are coated glass so I'm no longer comfortable selling it
24: No change, but jeweler noted it's a nice antique
25: Yellow & white diamonds confirmed
26: Not enough time to confirm stone
27: 14K, real amethysts & diamonds
28: 14K gold, turquoise is not real but was good enough to fool gemologist until she looked closely at it
29: 10K gold, real amethyst
30: 10K gold, pink CZ
31: The jeweler was puzzled by this item. It is stamped 14K but the density doesn't feel right and the edges are raw, as though it was a bad mould or something. At best this is gold-plated silver or base metal. The stone is still a mystery. If anyone is still interested in this item, please let me know and I'll add it to the small pile going back next week for stone ID.
32: Not enough time to confirm stone
33: No change, but noted it's a heavy band
34: 14K gold, real sapphires, real emeralds, & real opal - the jeweler said this was a particularly nice opal! :)
35: Base metal, CZ side stones, but no time to ID main stone
36: 925, CZ
37: 925, 12K gold leaf inserts
38: Not enough time to confirm stone
39: No change
40: No change; jeweler noted these are nicely made
41: No change
42: 925, real lapis stone (quite a big one at that!)

For nos. 26, 32, & 35, I will be taking them back no later than 2/5 to get a proper stone ID, as the jeweler ran out of time today to ID stones on these items. If you're interested in items 8, 10, 12, 31, and/or 38, please let me know & I'll add them to this selfsame pile for stone ID next week. I am also taking items 4 & 5 at the same time to get 14K metal backings for them. I don't feel right selling them with just plastic backs.

So I have a few questions before I start posting on Loupe Troop:
Who pays shipping? Should I include the shipping cost in the price?
If I state that I don't accept returns, is this generally accepted and respected there?

Thank you for reading all this!!! Have a lovely weekend, everyone :) :wavey:

Wow. That was a lot of work!
I’m still interested in 34!
Let me know how to go forward.
You can charge the buyer for shipping or provide it free, it’s up to you.
Same with returns.

Thank you for all this work, I am still interested in 24, 26, 31 and 32. Especially with the mystery stones. But I might drop 31 as the size it just too large.

I’m interested in #33. What size is it?

I've bought many things off LT but have only sold a few items, so take my input with a grain of salt.

But shipping with USPS First Class (plus tracking) should run you <$5 per package. So you can take that into consideration when pricing to our listings.

With returns, looks like almost everyone is requesting Paypal F&F, which makes each sale pretty much final. Some folks allow the buyer to use Paypal for goods if the buyer will cover the fees themselves. But it'll also open the door for chargebacks/disputes.

Sidenote: In the past, I've been pretty lucky with covering Paypal fees myself and not having any disputes or requests for returns with buyers. But now I'm a bit more cautious and have switched to accepting PayPal F&F only.

The way I see it, it's stressful enough to sell personal items. I'm not trying to run a small business here!

@Emerald City I had originally spoken up for #19. If another person has made you a good offer, I say seize the moment!! There are no "rules". These are your items. You get to decide what happens with all of it. :)

And I'm still interested in #3, #6, and #39, and depending on size, may be game for the giant lapis ring.

I will purchase #28 turquoise ring and turquoise earrings if still available.

It was a lot of typing but I am a weirdo who likes typing :) I want to provide people with as much detail as possible before they purchase an item because I don't want to accept returns. Please let me know if you'd like additional photos of any item! I'm happy to provide some :)

34 is a really neat piece! The jeweler thought it was very well made and said the opal is very high quality. Are you still interested in 28?

I'm happy to do all of this! :)

Duly noted and thank you for letting me know you're still interested! Are you still interested in item 40?

I'll let you know next week what the stones are in nos. 26, 31, & 32 :)

It is size 8.25 and 5.05mm wide. It has some mild scratching that a jeweler could polish off. I can ask my jeweler to polish it if you'd like. I am going to see him next week anyway :)

I understand.
Why don’t we do this.
Please send me an invoice for 34 via loupe troop.
I will post my contact info there and we can do via PayPal FF.

I will let 28 go for now.
Thank you.

That won’t work for me, unfortunately. It’s just a bit too big. Thank you

@Emerald City im so sorry to read of your problem and upcoming surgery
I hope you get good prices for your lovelly pretties and that helps a lot towards your medical bills

Im so sad you have to sell them but health and mobility is paramount

Thats so nice of @Bron357 to offer to help you sell your mom's pieces too, every bit will help and I'm sure you mom would have wanted to help if she was here today

@lala646 Your graciousness and kindness are much appreciated!! I will go ahead and sell it to the lady I met in the jewelry store. She actually let out a shriek in the store and we were all like, What's going on?? lol. I appreciate your being willing to let the piece go. That is incredibly generous of you.

The giant lapis ring is size 9. Will that work?

Thank you again. :)
