The fee was acceptable (for me) - it came out to less than 5% of what I had paid initially for the stone. I am glad that the friend did the right thing and that this ended amicably but I certainly learned my 4 digit lesson!

Nice bit of profit for a non-sale, given that he''s supposed to be a friend.

Actually, they had purchased the diamond from a dealer who was unwilling to take it back. So they are taking it into THEIR inventory and will try to resell it. So, I do think that the fee is fair, and I wish them the best in selling it. I''m sure SOMEONE will buy it, the question is WHEN!

Mulling through several options and have been keeping an eye on inventory.
