Friends! Had my first ring made ever!!

The sapphire is stunning and so is the ruby. Pls post lots of pics when you finally set the ruby. I actually thought that maybe you had an update on the ruby setting.

Do you have more details or pics of your ruby posted somewhere else? If not can I pls trouble you to share more pics/details? It’s such a lovely shade of red.

Thank you! I was just telling Double E that the next stone I send to Inken will probably be the ruby or padparadscha. So hopefully I'll have it finished soon. Part of me wants to take my time and enjoy the process of setting these stones, and another part of me wants them all done tomorrow. Unfortunately, my bank account has the final vote.

I can definitely take some more pix of the ruby. Have you decided on your ring's design yet? :appl:

He's not shy, that's for sure! I was speaking with Amy (David Klass' CAD designer) yesterday regarding the ring we're making, and she said, "David wants to send you a plastic model of the ring before we go forward... it's really big." :lol-2: I assured her that, as a Native American jewelry collector, it's impossible for any piece to be too big for my tastes. I have rings that are like dwarf planets on your finger. They make this one look demure. lol

Unusual that you call your ring 'he' - most people on PS I noticed refer to stones and rings as 'she' - nothing wrong with it of course =)2

Looking forward to seeing your other giant ring then, on my short fingers, it would reach my knuckle, but you must have long fingers!

This made me laugh. Dwarf planets… anyway you can’t go wrong going bigger. With age, everything needs to be bigger…

Anyway 22mm is fine imo. Lol.

Saw that your stone is stock setting size and I’m so envious! I’ll be honest, if mine is stock setting size like yours it would probably be much closer to being set cos I’ll just order a stock setting and be done. Set your ruby soon! It’s too pretty not to set.

Unfortunately I take forever to decide on custom settings.

Sometimes it's a "she!" This one just struck me as male.

Actually, my fingers are rather stubby. I'm always so jealous of the PS contingent with long, slender fingers!

Right?! I always get my rings just a smidge on the big side (size-wise), because I heard knuckles get larger with age. lol

Same! Perhaps we'll draw inspiration from one another on our ruby projects!!

Me too! If only I’m standard finger size… (approx US 5.75 in my part of the world)

I just think that dainty doesn’t look the same on old hands/necks/ears…

Like a cute ring worn by 20-something young women looks ridiculous on a 60 yo. I will sort of consider if the item can be worn 20 years from now and if it is a clear no then it’s probably not worth the setting cost.

Yes, very true! The funny thing is, I never really cared for dainty pieces even at that age, though I've admired them on others. I think it's because my mom always wore big and bold pieces. Perhaps we tend to gravitate towards that with which we grow up. She had a big influence on my "style," if I have one. :D
