The stamps at this rate ARE available. I bought some at Christmas.

UGH - are you serious? I just bought a freaking pack of 100 stamps and the teller at the USPS never bothered to tell me I might want to get a roll of 39c stamps instead.

Is it just be or does anyone else this that 39 cents seems so high? Looks like I''ll just pay my bills online from now on.

Ugh! That''s not cool. Seriously, at least TELL people. Not everyone follows that! 2 cent stamps are available but that''s another freaking trip! That sucks she didn''t say anything!

I pay some of my stuff online, but Id totally suggest continuing that trend.

I cant even tell you the last time I even saw a stamp was b/c I pay all my bills on time. That is freaking insane, man!

I do pay my credit card bills online, but I''m not a big fan of automatic bill pay. A friend of mine had a big screw up with that, so I only pay online the accounts that I can go in and manually send the payment each month over the internet. The ones where I would have to set up auto bank deduction are the ones that I send checks out for instead...so a roll of 100 stamps lasts forever!

I''m going to have to buy a freaking roll of stupid 2 cent stamps.

we''re all about auto bill pay and paying bills online. Have yet to have a problem after 3 years...the only time I have used stamps in the past year alone was for Christmas cards!

I forgot to ask though, does this mean postcard stamp rates will go up as well from .25? Only asking because I still have a few left over from wedding RSVP cards that I take on our travels...does anyone know?

we pay all of our bills online, too. We use about one stamp/ month for our rent

But now we''ll have to go and get those 2 cent ones

I''ve heard USPS isn''t too thrilled about everyone paying their bills on the internet these days!

This is from the USPS website:

Rate Current Jan. 8

First-Class Mail Letter (1 oz.)
37¢ 39¢
First-Class Mail Letter (2 oz.)
60¢ 63¢
Postcard
23¢ 24¢
Priority Mail (1 lb.) and Flat Rate Envelope
$3.85 $4.05
Priority Mail Flat Rate Box
$7.70 $8.10
Express Mail (1/2 lb.) and Flat Rate Envelope
$13.65 $14.40
Express Mail (over 1/2 lb., up to 2 lb.)
$17.85 $18.80

I copied the table, the current price is on the left, the new price is on the right.

I don''t think the price increase is that bad. Really, if you send out as many as 20 bills a month, that is an increase of 40 cents per month. We wouldn''t bat an eyelid if our morning coffee went up 40 cents. Also when you think of what that letter/ bill has to go through to get across the US, it''s not that much.

I wish you well,

Bridget

I have had a problem with authorizing a company to use "auto-pay." They would not stop grabbing money after I cancled there service. The bank said that they could not stop it - that only the company I had previously authorized could stop it.

I had to close the checking account to stop it, and change banks - and lost I believe $900 before it was over (which I could never recover).

I now refuse to let anyone access my account for Auto-pay. Perhaps I am "old fashioned" - but I have not had any problems with checks and the mail.

Stamps are in.

My local post office has been teling people for about a month that postage was going up. I bought 39 Cent stamps a couple of weeks ago - and also some 2 Cent stamps to cover most of the existing stamps I have.

Buy your 2 cent stamps today or monday if you can. I''ll bet by Wednesday that they will be out.

auto-pay scares me too Perry but you can pay bills online manually.

You know what? I knew this but forgot. I just put something in the mailbox today (Sunday) with a .37 stamp on it. Now what - the post office returns it to me for insufficient postage? What a hassle!
