I have never bid in a gem auction before but I am in love with the coraly color of this stone. The video looks great, the pictures look OK.

Open to any and all thoughts on this stone, cost and/or this website! 5e68ba52d8a7b.jpg

I have no clue, but that colour! I absolutely love it!!

I think it's a lovely color. However, it does have a pretty big window covering a large part of the table, which would bother me. I would pass on it, due to the window. But some people don't mind windows and if you're one of them, then the color and size may make up for the windowing.

Thats good input thank you! Love the stone in your avatar! Thats the color Im going for!

I love it, beautiful color and the window does not look too bad to me. If it ends similar in price to the other orangey tourmalines they have auctioned, it's in "priced for adventure" / learning experience category.

Good to know, thank you! Since you have watched other similar auctions, how high would you expect this one to go? Thanks for the insight!

Definitely not an expert I just clicked on the seller's profile and looked at recent ended auctions for orange/pink tourmalines in similar sizes. They have ended from 70-200 USD. To me that it a "chalk it up to learning experience" territory if it's not great. :mrgreen2:

Ageeeees ago, I purchased some stuff from that seller when I was a newbie gem purchaser. My photo of the gem is in the jar, the seller's photo embedded in the image.

In general, I found their colors to be a bit optimistic. My photo looks a lot browner than it is IRL (it's more straight pink) but the colors are not as bold as the pictures lead you to believe. Also, they have fairly obvious windowing that becomes horrific when slightly tilted.

They're not awful if you're not paying terribly much for them. But caveat emptor.

I can see the culet facets so what you are seeing is not a window but a tilt window. The cut may not show a window but in an attempt to work with a shallow stone, the tilt window becomes very easily seen. It's the trade-off.

It's a cheap stone so my guess is that is possibly treated and the inclusions are eye visible. @JackTrick brings up a valid point about colour accuracy.

Good to know about the tilt window, thank you very much - I appreciate it!

Sorry but I need to interject here - on the video of the original stone you love, there isn't a window. I totally agree with Chrono that it's a tilt window but honestly it's very small. More of a concern is seeing @JackTrick's images against stone received. That would make me hesitate.

I have bought a bunch of gems that look like this and they have all ended up being very brown. I doubt this one would be an exception. It also is not eye clean, and seems to be chipped in the back, which you can see in both the photo and the video.

Ok good info - thank you! I agree I will be so sad if it comes with a different color!

Side none - love your band! Thanks for your insight! I will definitey be disappointed if its brown - the pictures above give me concern on the color for sure!
