SDL: I am almost *beside myself* with excitement over this ring! It has been SO LONG.....

So I hope my PS friends don''t mind my hanging out these days: I can hardly concentrate!

WF says I should have pics of the general design layout in a day or so....

BUT THOSE ARROWS!!

I printed the WF pics along with pics of my original ring, and a few other sapphires I found on (non-PS) vendor websites. And also a RB with wicked arrows. Then I laid them all out for DH and asked him what he noticed: it was the ARROWS! He''s starting to *get it*!

I just got off the phone with Whiteflash: the pears sidestones are being ordered tomorrow, as are the rb''s for the melee.

We should have some sort of layout for Monday, when the CAD''s start....

ETA is approx 3-4 weeks! YIPPEEEEE

If I may ask (and I only ask because it seems that it was public knowledge), how much does a stone like that cost? I am guessing someone said 4K? I will probably have to go with a heated stone because of my budget, and probably much smaller weight, but if I found something as gorgeous as that, I''d be willing to blow my budget to have something really special for my mom.

This is going to be to die for, your ring!!!

I don't mind your asking, because it was posted on JW's website: $4500 or so.

Jeff told me the cost per carat for heated stones can vary, so we established a budget range of approx $1300 - $1700 (per carat). At the time, I didn't want to go higher than that.

The first stone Jeff brought in was 2+ carat oval and it was only $2400 (but it was heated, however). That might give you an idea of his pricing...

But when that round came along, he gave me a chance at it. It "talked" to me for a month before I bought it, and I have had NO regrets in putting out a bit more $$. Not only the colour, but the CUT is amazing.

I have looked at a LOT of the stones on other websites, and have never seen one like Jeff's. His work is amazing.

I saw your posting of Doomaise's ring on your thread: I LOVE that ring. And the project for your mother will be amazing.

The only advice I can give is that sapphire-searching needs patience. But it is worth it once you find "the one"....geez, I could be posting over in LIW for this kind of schmaltz!

We have the melee rounds/pears figured out, and the cads start today. Estimated finish: 3-4 weeks!
