Tomorrow, WF has arranged for a conference/internet session, where I log into their CAD guys'' pc and he''ll draw on the screen to show me what he''s thinking. I can then in ''real time'' give him input.

Giggles aside, I can''t believe what they''ve set up: I log in via a pre-arranged website link, and call in to the CAD guys'' direct line.

He then brings up his drawing software, and draws/sketches on his monitor: as he''s drawing, I see what he''s doing. We chat...we design....we collaberate...and voila!!! PERFECTION IS ATTAINED!

ok, I''m running ahead of myself but I can''t believe for a ring that just needs a bit of tweaking, they are willing to do this for me!

As soon as I have the tweaked CADS I'll post them. Production doesn't sound like it will be too long, as the sapphire, pears and RB's are already in their hands.

ETA Jeff White is curious as well. I promised him CADS once finalized. No point in sending a version that will be changed shortly.

I just received my paperwork from JW today, including the stones "birth certificate" from Sri Lanka! It is really cool! He also included the facet cutting diagram for the stone that he drew before cutting. Neat.

I wasn''t even asking for attention.... I just sent them an e-mail suggesting a bit of tweaking, with a couple of pics. Then presto, there was a web conference scheduled with Mr. CAD guy! I feel really special!

AMAZING. And I''m a fairly low-maintenance client!

The other thing I have noticed (and this seems unusual to me), but every time they tell me about the next step of the process, and say who I''m being connected with next, it is with an extremely positive comment about that person. It''s very effective, because I automatically expect to "like the guy" when I start talking to him. THAT is a true sign of class in business and customer service. I continue to be amazed and I don''t even have the ring yet!

WAY WAY KEWL!

I had the best session with Joe the CAD guy at WF! I connected to his screen via weblink and he and I got to draw all over a coloured rendering of my ring!!

We tweaked the ring in a couple of spots, mainly the transition point between the YG and platinum.

Redesigned the shank (Thank you CatMom, you and I have come up with the perfect solution!). We took the YG shank and just circled it to kind of under the end of the pear, instead of ''swooping'' it up towards the tip. This then minimizes the visible amount of YG .

We also made some minor changes to the gallery to clean up the underside a bit. I thought it was too busy under the pears.

The prongs on the sapphire will be dainty claw-like beauties.

The shank gets softened to less of a knife-edge

Height from underside of gallery to top of the table = 5.5mm which is perfect.

So the ctw for the 2 pears = .65 cts (woooeeeee)

And the rounds ended up being slightly larger (exactly as I had calculated on MY cad dwg so Joe the CAD guy was rather impressed!) 8 x 10 pointers.

I did the "webinair" from my office at work: there was a regular audience at my door looking at this process...and a few people who wanted WF''s website details too!.

The revised CAD drawings will be done next Wednesday morning (Aug 13th). Once approved, probably 2 wks or so to shipping date.

Joe was amazingly patient and professional. He was really good at interpreting my description of what I thought was needed.

All in all, it''s been a fun day!
