Hi all.

I saw a lovely flower today that may be perfect for my beach/garden mwedding. Has anyone used Gerber daisies in mason jars? How many would you put in each jar, and do you think that would cut costs for centerpieces?

Well it depends on what you were considering before -- whether or not it cuts costs. But Gerber Daisy''s are hardy, sunny, happy flowers that would be lovely at your wedding. I think that Deco had some at her wedding (maybe)... As for the jars: just buy them yourself super cheap in bulk and buy some daisy''s from an online wholesaler. I don''t often recommend DIY but if you are talking about sticking some gerbers in a jar it''s gonna be super easy.

If it''s at all helpful, I was quoted $3/single stem of gerber daisy, so I actually think they''re pretty pricey. I''m actually using pom daisies which are a fraction of that price. I''m putting them in galvanized watering cans for centerpieces, but now you have me thinking about mason jars...very cute idea!

i just bought 10 gerber daisies from trader joes for $4 bucks just for my house....i was thinking of just asking them to see if they can make sure they have enough for me in stock the day i need them. (i may only need about 40 of them)

I love gerber daisies. I have seen florist put the stems in straws to keep them up and if you vary the height you don't need to put many at all. I would try like 6. You could also use carnation stems to help keep the form of the flowers and give them more depth.

eta: I just went to costco, they have potted gerbers 5-4" pots for $20.

Just FYI, they are called gerbera daisies. I used to have them in my kitchen all the time because I love them! They are inexpensive, cheerful, and last well.

Here's a link to a company that sells them in bulk for 80 cents each (that's for the biggest, premium kind). Lots of different colours and styles:

Thanks everyone. That is really helpful. Don''t you just love Trader Joe''s? If I find any good pictures of daisies in a mason jar, I''ll post them. It also might look nice to have mason jars with ribbon around them and tealights for some of the tables...

I''m using gerbera daisies for my bouquet, the 2 bridesmaids bouquets and for the centerpieces. Gerberas are not the priciest flowest but not the cheapest either... My florist is charging me 5$ per flower. The centerpieces will have 3 gerberas and some greeneries, I''m also paying for the vase and the florists'' work, and they will cost me 29,99$ each. Not so bad, really.

If you go DIY, I do think 3 flowers and some greens in mason jars would look beautiful! If you can buy your flowers in bulk, you''d probably save a bunch.

Hey Anchor, if you can hack doing DIY, that link I posted where they are 80 cents each? I noticed they ship to Canada too. You would save a BUNDLE. As a long time gerbera buyer, $5 / flower seems like a LOT to me. Maybe call around, see if you can get a better quote and ask your florist to match it?
