Harleigh, I''m so sorry to read about this!

As someone who has had hand surgery (I severed 3 tendons in my right hand a couple of years ago at the knuckle), one of the most important things you can do is get a really good hand therapist. I was in intensive hand therapy (twice a week for 2 hours at a time) and it still took 6 months to get 80 - 90% of my motion back in those fingers. I''d say now, almost two years out, I have 95% of my ROM back and most people wouldn''t notice unless I said something.

*Hugs* If you have any questions about the recovery process, please let me know. It takes a while, but you will get use of your hand back!
 
oh dear, that sounds awful... and very painful! Harleigh, i am thinking of you and hoping for relief from the pain and a full recovery for your hand. i hope that pup knows how to bring you chocolate and flowers!

Sweetie I am so sorry to hear that. Sending prayers and big hugs your way. This jogs my memory that I saw a headline on Consumerist that retractable leashes can severely hurt ones hand. Though a big strong dog can of course hurt your hand no matter what the heck you use. Doggies can be beyond strong. Harleigh you are so brave and also so sweet to rescue that puppy. Please know that we will all be thinking of you and pulling for you and sending you prayers and boatloads of dust your way.
