Is it common to get the parents a gift? Our parents are paying for the entire wedding, and I''m feeling obligated to give them something more than a very nice card.

Anyone have any ideas?

We got my parents massages at a fancy spa as a thank you and to work off the stress incurred from the wedding. I gave it to them the morning of the wedding. We also told them that we were giving them parents'' albums.

Another couple gave his parents an overnight and dinner at the Inn at Little Washington in VA, which is a really nice restaurant/inn.

I''ve seen a parent''s acknowledgement at several weddings, during the ceremony, wher ethe bride and groom present their parents with cards and roses, as a public display of their gratitude for raising them, etc.. etc.. I always felt it was a very nice touch. At one wedding, the bride and groom read personal letters to their parents as part of the ceremony too. very heartfelt and touching.. made me tear up!

We didn''t do anything too big- but my husband and I gave his mom a box of delicious local truffles, my dad movie money (gift card- he loves the movies!) and my mom and step-father scotch.

They were so touched we did SOMETHING traditional I think we could have given them socks. Our parents did like the personal touch though, and that we took time out of our wedding "pre-reception" to acknowledge them.

Some great ideas ladies! Thank you so much!

Well, my cousin gave her mom and dad beautiful albums of pictures from the wedding? I''ve also seen people do pretty hankerchiefs (sp?) with a special embroidered message?

Those of you from New England probably have heard of Simon Pearce, but for those who haven''t, it is a company that makes some of the most beautiful glass products. I am getting the mother vases and having our florist fill them. I''m getting my father a Dartmouth clock.

FI is in charge of his dad''s gift.
