So... a jewelery house can buy semifinished pieces off a B to B catalog, polish (whatever "finish" means) then, put their brand name on and voila - "designer jewelry".
Sure it works: just look below - teh larger pics coem from a designer catalog and they surely had the barnd name on the shank before I removed it. The thumbnails come from Stuller''s online catalog.
Both sets of pictures can be compared closely online

Only the samples at Stuller are semifinished, of course.

Why not just look over such catalogs and ask the jeweler of your choice to do the finishing? You can even launch you own "jewelry brand" in about a week this way

Yea it is funny when im bored I will troll ebay looking for stuller settings that someone is selling as branded.
Also look at how badly someone has set the stones in the settings.
Some of them I swear a 2 year old could do better.

This is not Ebay, but a famous and expensive designer brand

And more of their reputed models can be traced back to catalogs like this - all the brand did is stamp the name and take pictures. There is no way to know if the provider of semifinished pieces didn't do everything, in fact - setting, polishing and stamping the brand name

So... when buying that "unique" designer piece, one definitely gets the very exactly same as you can ordering off Stuller's. This seems quite wrong

At least the "diamonds by the yard" and "Tiffany lace" pendants from Blue Nile cannot be bought bulk from a parts catalog
