Ditto to what she said, especially about looking at a stone just under a carat to get a similar size stone by the looks of it, but not by the price!!Date: 2/7/2005 8:19:55 PM

First of all I have to say the setting you picked out is a winner!! It''s simple, classic and elegant. It has all the right ingredients for a great engagement ring. To save money or keep within your budget try looking for stones between 3/4 to .90 points tw. You pay a higher premium for anything that is a carat, so going just under you''ll save a bundle. Hope this helps, good luck!!
Yes, what Headlight said!!! There is something magical about that 1 carat number, at least for me, but I can be a bratDate: 2/7/2005 10:23:12 PM

My two cents --
IF the setting will make the difference between you being able to purchase a one carat stone or not, then I''d get the full one carat and mount it in a plain, white gold solitaire setting for now -- upgrade the setting at a later date.
My only point is that many, not all, so nobody needs to get on my case, really want to know that their stone IS a full carat.
As for the setting, it is awesome. Has all the right lines and elements. Does that have a matching wedding band by Vatche?
gorgeous! kind of cartier...Date: 2/7/2005 125:25 PM

I am looking to propose to my girlfriend in a few months and I have been looking for the right ring. My girlfriend has kind of hinted at what she wants which is a channel setting with a princess cut. I know that she will be happy with whatever I get her, but I want some others opinion on this ring.
