My parents recently moved to the beach, and are in the process of having a salt water pool put in. Other than the obvious risks of wearing jewelry in pools (slipping off, knocking a stone loose, etc), I am curious if salt water will damage YG or WG at all. I know that chlorine will, but wasn''t sure about salt water. I wear WG, and my DD each have 2 YG rings that they never take off, and we will probably be spending a lot of time there this summer. I just want to know whether I should leave them at home or if they will be OK. I don''t want to risk taking them off and on each time we go in the pool.

Anyone??

I have never heard anything about salt water (by itself) affecting gold. My jeweler has a pretty thorough jewelry care guide that warns against chlorine, sand, even bed sheets (!), but nothing about salt water. Gold is pretty inert, and I''d think only lower-quality alloys would be at significant risk.
