Good value diamond tennis bracelet - need advise

I agree, the squared-off one looks pretty normal.

Thanks for everyone's patience, I know I've just been going in circles haha. But I'm getting there, I promise.

I actually have another option that I have been considering that I think everyone will like (but I really was hoping to get the deejay one - which I'm still super hesitant about and might have to move on from). It's a custom one from whiteflash with slightly worse spec diamonds than their standard version (but still fantastic I'm sure). I didn't really ask whiteflash to quote a custom one, it just kind of happened.

Anyway, right now I'm deciding between 2 options.

Whiteflash 5.6ct - $6350 - 54 diamonds
* See link below. Same setting but different diamonds.
* Full confidence in diamond quality
* Full confidence in setting
* Full confidence in seller
* Individual diamonds about 0.104ct
* No concerns about anything (except price/size)

Deejay 7ct - $4400 + $95 - 50 diamonds
* Technically worse diamonds, but I probably can't tell the difference
* Setting looks ok on some photos (not fantastic but manageable), but really weird and tall/wide on others.
* Seller seems ok, but don't really know much about them
* Individual diamonds about 0.14ct

So in summary, the deejay one is both significantly bigger AND cheaper.

However, as much as I'm trying to tell myself that the setting is fine, it's giving me really weird vibes. Photos are not great so it's very hard to tell, but it looks like the setting might stick out a lot on the sides meaning that the face view would show a huge border if you know what I mean. The listed width/height is the same as on their 12ct version, which I assume is a mistake, but it could also mean that the setting is big enough to accommodate both sizes (which might explain how weirdly big it looks in some photos).

If I could see them in person, I'm sure I would pick the bigger and cheaper one. But buying it from overseas with just photos to go by and probably no realistic way to return it, it just makes things very hard. So while I'm trying to find confidence in the bigger/cheaper one, I'm probably leaning towards the safe choice from whiteflash despite the extra cost. I will start the ordering process with whomever I chose on Monday as my deadline has already run out.

As a fellow overseas buyer I feel your pain in terms of doing things at a distance with difficulty returning things.
Honestly, much as I love a bargain, in your position I would go with Whiteflash. Yes, it will be smaller - but that's a known quantity you can prepare for. But the peace of mind you'll have knowing you bought a great setting from a great vendor will be totally worth it in my opinion.

I can understand how difficult this decision is from overseas, where returns would be more difficult (though not impossible). I would have no hesitation with Whiteflash. To me, both bracelets are a significant purchase, so I’d prioritize the one that makes you feel less stressed.

Whiteflash is a wonderful company to work with on many levels. They would be happy to talk to you and discuss their policies and shipping. It doesn’t cost a thing to call and ask! I have worked with them several times and have always been pleased with their customer service and products!

Whatever choice you make, hats off to you for the time and consideration you have put into this purchase for your wife. You clearly are intent on making her happy and that makes her blessed! Please come back with pictures when she receives whichever you choose!

If you are talking about a difference between 3 mm and 3.25 mm then definitely go with the Whiteflash bracelet for piece of mind.

The biggest look will definitely be the original 6 ct Deejays rounded style setting at 3.5 mm but that is out because your wife prefers the line/squared off style.

I tried to find you a visual between 3 and 3.25 mm. This is the best one I found-obviously these are setting in the rounded style.

Oh gosh *peace of mind what an awful typo :doh:

I'm looking for a diamond tennis bracelet for a 10 year anniversary. I don't buy diamonds very often so it's a very expensive and stressful purchase for me. I live in Australia and we have very few local options, so I haven't been able to view much in person either to fully visualize size and style differences.

Ideally I wanted 5ct+ but I'm considering 4ct as well due to budget. I don't need the best of the best, I'm happy to compromise if it means bigger diamonds (which is her main priority!). Here are my top choices.

NOTE: shipping from idj is $300 :( so I've added that to the price

4ct - $4950 - IDJ
5ct - $5700 - James Allen (sale ends in a day)
6ct - $7550 - IDJ
8ct - $9350 - IDJ

I think all of the IDJ ones are F-G/SI1/excellent cut. The James Allen one is H-I/SI1-SI2 (don't know cut).

I know you will all immediately go for the best quality ones, but again keep in mind that we are not diamond experts and probably won't be able to tell the difference. Last time I bought diamonds (5 year anniversary) I bought her hearts and arrow ideal diamond studs from whiteflash and we honestly can't tell the difference from a bluenile pendant with much much worse spec. I kind of regret not buying bigger ones with a worse spec. So please keep that in mind. The bigger size will give her more happiness than 5% more sparkle.

I would also much appreciate other suggestions as these are still all very expensive and I'm really worried about going with the 4ct. I contacted ivy & rose, but after 3 business days they haven't gotten back to me.

While the 4ct is already breaking the bank (and we have to pay another 15% for importing it as well), I'm considering going bigger just because it IS such a big sum already and if it's too small then it's kind of completely wasted. It's hard to send back and my wife wouldn't do it. And to be clear, this is never getting upgraded, ie it's a once in a lifetime bracelet.

She has big wrists and one of the few ones we've been able to try was a 5ct that still looked very small (and she wants something big). Hence why in my head I kind of made that the baseline. It's so hard to make a decision. Sadly the 8ct is probably the best value, but we are talking about the price of a car now...

So yeah, what should I do? Which size? Where can I find an acceptable 5ct+ for a reasonable price? Do I dare buy the james Allen one despite how I'm sure everyone in this thread will tell me not to? Should I just close my eyes and turn off my common sense and buy the 8ct since it's the best value and I won't have to worry about it being too small? Do IDJ ever have promotions/codes? Are they open for negotiation or would they be insulted if I asked for a discount or something? Etc

I probably need to order within a week or so to meet my deadline. Any help is appreciated as I feel more lost now than when I started looking. It's so hard making a purchase like this without being able to walk into a store and actually talk to people and look at the items in person.

PS: hope it's ok I created another thread for a more focused discussion as I started the other one for discussing a specific store

You are so sweet to want to surprise your wife. I can also recommend Alex Park (IG: parksfinegroupinc). I’ve bought many pieces from him (and met him in NY in person); my good friend is in Australia and has also purchased numerous pieces from him sight unseen. He isn’t terribly chatty but is straightforward and has a great eye for cut. His prices are extremely fair as well.

The second picture is great for comparing the styles, thank you. The round setting also look similar to the one from deejays and it looks perfectly fine. I would be happy with that one and I would have picked a rounded setting if it was up to me.

I'm not sure if I understand the first picture though, ie the total carat weight doesn't seem to match the width. The latest 7ct deejay one has 0.14 stones compared to whiteflash at around 0.1. So it's a pretty big difference (about 3mm vs 3.4mm I think if I googled that correctly, although it's hard to visualize without photos of them side by side). That said, I'm pretty sure I'm going with whiteflash.

Ok, I think this is the closest I can get:

There’s a great tool on diamdb.com

Here’s a bad screenshot of the difference between 3 mm and 3.4 mm.

For anyone interested, I ended up going with the whiteflash 5.6ct "timeless" bracelet extended to 7.25inch (for a new total of 5.8ct).

It's estimated to take 3 weeks + shipping, so unfortunately I will probably forget to update this thread when it eventually arrives.

Thanks everyone for the help and for listening to my ramblings.

You will not be sorry with the Whiteflash bracelet! Your wife will be a very happy lady! You MUST not forget to update this thread; we will all be anxiously awaiting it! You could also start another thread in Show Me The Bling forum with pictures of the new bracelet. Either way, we are excited for you both!!
