I am thinking of having a gemstone ring made for my daughter as a graduation gift. She will be graduating from High School in June with her AA Degree from the local Community Collge. I am just so proud of her and want her to have a special momento.

Anyway, I have been browsing stones online and have found a setting that I really like from the Natural Sapphire Co:

Does anyone know if you can have a stone set by them that was purchased somewhere else?

What do most of you do as far as having your stones set? I''m not looking for anthing too extravagent, so nothing like Leon or the likes...

Just wanted to comment that the setting is exquisite

Good luck with finding your gemstone.

i think adwar castings makes a setting like that... it is lovely and very sophisticated.

ETA: with adwar or stuller or similar companies you would have to get a jeweler to price and order the setting, and the diamonds would be extra. there are a number of PS jewelers who have done this and it is much more economical than custom. i doubt NSC will set an outside stone.

lili - thanks! My daughter really likes that setting as well!

enbcfsobe - thanks for the info. I''ll check out the adwar and stuller settings.

Oh I think it is a beautiful setting and would be a thoughtful gift. I am sure she will treasure it forever!

I have a diamond band that my mom gave me when I was in college and almost 8 years later I still wear it everyday...(though that will change soon)

That''s a beautiful setting. Is that your daughter''s style?

Yes, they do.

Their settings are lovely. You might be able to go less expensive elsewhere, though, I do have to say.

Swingirl - yes, my daughter is the one who picked ou that setting. She likes the twisted-type bands with pave...

Thanks, sonoma! I just wanted to know if that was an option! I''ll definitely be doing some shopping around!
