Skippy this is a film for you and a very disturbing article on how climate change is effecting the reef. Please come soon to enjoy this magical place that may not be around much longer. Reef
I went to talk to hubby so in 09 we will try to make it out. I am glad you and your dear daughter are going out to enjoy this spectacular nirvana of sealife. Are you certified to dive? I need to become certified; I can snorkle though. Thanks Katebar, you are so sweet; you are so lucky to be so close to this natural wonder!Date: 12/13/2007 9:23:12 PM

Yes it is an absolute tragedy. I can't bear the thought that future generations may not get to experience this wondrous place. I have snorkeled out there about 4 times over the last 25 years and my daughter and I are planning to dive out of Port Douglas next year.
I guess I have noticed a difference but had no idea that the possibility of this wonder of the world disappearing was so inevitable.

There are governments and polly''s working on this - and when did they ever achieve anything?
When scientists get a wiff of money and funding from a new source they go crazy coming up with solutiions.
I am willing to bet you a weeks cruise on the barrier reef (you cook) that in a decade this problem will be solved by people who find a way to make $$$''s out of carbon. The only thing that could mess that up is too many Gov''t funded and stoopid carbon trading schemes.
Gov''ts should simply tax carbon as a revenue source, and then there is an incentive for big biz to fund science and development. Gov''t should plow 1/2 the tax money back into associated science courses in uni''s
