I had a really good weekend with my boyfriend. We talked a lot about getting engaged and getting married. It is not going to happen any time too soon, but it was so nice to see how excited he is about it too!

He doesn''t know very much about jewelry and nothing about diamonds, so I told him that if we get it online, I can help him to look at different stones, and guide him about which would be a good buy. He also didn''t know how much he should expect to spend, and so I gave him a price range for what I would like, and he is comfortable with that, and he''s glad he has a little more time to save. We also talked about taking a trip down to NYC to visit ERD!

At this point, I would love to be engaged, but I am not ready yet because I have a year and a half of Grad school left and I don''t have time to plan a wedding while I''m in school. Although I am excited to be engaged, a couple of months ago I asked him to wait to propose until January 2009 or after because then I will be almost done with school. I have a feeling that he won''t be able to wait much past then, because he''s very excited.

I am happy because I know it''s something that is going to happen but I feel blessed that for now I have time to enjoy him, us, and life in general. But next year at this time I''ll probably be going out of my mind!!

Jewels - Thanks for sharing your joy about your weekend! It sounds like it was just what you needed. Sometimes weekends like that are really unexpected but entirely appreciated & enjoyed.

Now you have however long to sit and plan/make your perfect ring or get him educated enough to do it for you ... you sneaky girl!

that''s great that he''s so excited about it!! It definitely sounds like he won''t be able to wait long past Jan 09

Yay! I love conversations like this. Having a timeline in place really helps! I''m in the same boat as you with graduate school and not wanting to have to plan while I''m in school. I''m happy that you''re both excited.

Thanks ladies!! I am happy that we had a good talk and agree that it''s best to do it a little later than we were originally planning; it makes me a lot less stressed out! I am very excited for when it happens down the road, but right now I feel great with the timeline that we''ve talked about. I have a strange feeling that next year at this time I am probably going to be climbing the walls!

Thanks for letting me share

Smart gal!! Its so great that you were able to have this conversation NOW. Its great for both of you to have this timeline in place, knowing that you are in love and want to spend your lives together.... now you never have to walk on eggshells if you see things you like.... its a long, unhurried process to be enjoyed with every step.

Congratulations!!!

Thanks glueck! I am comfortable with the timeline that we''ve talked about. And I talk about things I like all the time, both about what I would like for the ceremony/ reception and about what ring I would like. Unfortunately I can''t make up my mind about what I want for a ring and I keep telling him different things. hehe, oh well you''re right that we have a long unhurried process and plenty of time for me to oogle over lots of pretty rings before I make my final decision.
