Aiyeeeeeeeeeee, it´s hot here. Just finished dinner at almost 11 p.m. and it´s still just a tad bit under 100 degrees. This is a pretty nice city. We visited Toledo today and will do Segovia tomorrow and then it´s off to Lisbon where I hear a cold front is moving in so we´re hoping for cooler temperatures. Have not purchased any jewelry. It must be the heat turning my brain to much. I have a new appreciation for cold showers

Hi Matata!

I''m glad you had a safe flight to Spain. I hope you love Lisbon! I can''t wait to go to Portugal next summer. I''m not sure if you''re planning on going to Sintra but I hear it''s a must! Apparently it''s not too far from Lisbon and it''s supposed to be absolutely beautiful. I can''t wait to hear all about it. Have a good rest of your vacation.

Can''t wait for pics!!!

Oh, count me in the "can''t wait for pictures" group!

Hi Matata,

I saw that you posted in another thread, so I guess you''ve made it back from Madrid and Lisbon. How was your trip?

Zoe...the trip was great. I liked Madrid -- slick & touristy, fine museums, fab shopping; people were nice but overly friendly. Toledo was ok. Segovia was great.

Lisbon on the other hand was fantastic. The Portuguese people we met were extremely friendly. The city is a nice mix of old (historic) and new (glam) but they are striving to retain the old world charm of the place and not become just another tourist spot and I hope they succeed. I wish we could have stayed in Lisbon longer. We didn''t make it to Sintra because we enjoyed Lisbon so much and wanted to explore all the nooks & crannies.

Most of the pics I took were in Lisbon and most of those are architecture because I think the churches are so interesting. Following are a few.

This is the Santa Justa elevator built by a student of Gustave Eiffel.

This was taken from the Castle in Lisbon looking over the river to another part of the city. The bridge is new and resembles the Golden Gate bridge.
