I just found this web site a couple of days ago and am addicted to it.

This is my first post, so please bear with me.

I found a pair of Gregg Ruth Emerald and Diamond earrings on EBAY and would like to get a feel for if the price for them is fair. My thought is that if I am paying somewhere around 50% of the new retail price, and am buying a ''signed'' piece, I am getting a quality piece, and am not over paying. I know the price is not a steal because they have been re-listed on ebay at least once.

This is the description and I have attached (I think) a picture
Composition Solid 18K White Gold
Primary Stone Colombian Emeralds
Shape / Cut 12 Round - 3mm each
Color / Clarity VS Clarity
Stone Weight 1.03 Total Carats
Accent Stone Genuine Diamonds
Shape / Cut 2 Round - 3mm each
Shape / Cut 12 Round - 1mm each
Color / Clarity ave. G / VS
Total Diamond Weight .36 Carats
Earring Measurements 9mm x 9mm
Total Pair Weight 3.2 grams

My questions are...
1) Is there any way to find out what the retail price of these earrings were originally? I could find similar, but not identical earrings on the Gregg Ruth web site.

2) Is my assumption that pre-owned pieces at approximately 50% of retail a good assumption, or do they normally re-sell at a higher or lower percentage?

3) Are there any flaws / pitfalls in my logic (Find a signed piece I really like, pruchase it used instead of new, end up with twice the number of pieces that I would have if purchasing new).

Thanks in advance
