I have been trying to figure out what to get soon to be husband on our wedding day.. He is not the typical guy that I can get him cufflinks, or a nice watch.. He wouldn''t wear it. He loves outdoor activities, like hunting, fishing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, etc. So.. what I thought about last night was a nice camera. He has been wanting a Nikon D60 camera for about 2 years now. Is that a dumb gift? I thought I could get it for him and put a nice card in it saying something about how he can capture our very special moments we are going to share in the many years to come?? The only thing I was thinking is that I probably can''t get it engraved or anything like most wedding gifts. What do you think, or does anyone have any other ideas?

No, I don''t think it''s a dumb gift. I think it''s a good idea.

FWIW, we both agreed that we wanted our wedding gifts to each other to be items we would use on our wedding day AND in the future. My husband rarely gets dressed up (maybe 4x/year if that), but it''s meaningful to him that his dressy stuff remind him of the wedding. So he got a suit (within our wedding budget like my dress was), and his wedding day gift from me was a beautiful pair of cufflinks that came from the same store as my wedding band.

I also toyed with the idea of getting him a Wii, and that he could play with it on the day of the wedding before the pictures and ceremony started. When I found out there were no TVs in our on-site cabins, I scrapped the idea

... would''ve been fun though.

I think that is a wonderful gift. I was having an issue finding something for my fiance also, but ended up getting him a first edition bottle of Sam Adams Utopia ($350 - YIKES) and hope that he will enjoy it on our wedding day. He has always wanted to try it.

So I think the gift is good, something he wants, tailored specifically to him.

i think the camera idea is a really great idea. does the camera have a strap? what if you had your wedding date monogrammed in small numbers on the bottom of the strap or something. i like the idea of getting him something he wants or something that is a hobby for him.

i am having an impossible time deciding what to buy my fiance. i dont think he would be excited about cufflinks, although they are my backup. i just started to think about a boudoir album, but i can''t tell if i would feel narcissistic giving him pictures of me! he collects watches, but he has all of the watches he wants (in my price range!)

I think that a camera is a great gift and at least he''ll get use out of it, rather than the cufflinks if he''s never going to wear them. I''m getting D fly fishing lessons with this well known fisherman as that''s what he really wants. While it''s not a sentimental present, I''d rather he gets use out of what I get him.

A guy''s point of view.

The camera is a great idea! If I was given a camera as a wedding gift from my bride, the first picture on it would be of her. A much better thing to give him something he will use than a "traditional" gift he wouldn''t.

Married to a photographer, I can tell you that your DF will LOVE this gift!

I don''t know the D60 but I wonder if you could engrave your initials and / or the wedding date on the bottom somewhere? It would make a great keepsake as well as an identifying mark if it was ever misplaced or "borrowed".

I think that''s an awesome idea! A camera is something he can use ALL the time! Great thinking!

I think the camara is a great idea, you can use it on the honeymoon, and capture all the moments together. And everytime that someone asks where you got it, he can say was a present for my wife

I think personalized gifts are best! Your FI is gonna love it!

I also think it''s a really nice gift. Well done.

A camera is a great gift for a guy! They don't typically want watches and cufflinks anyway. That would be too easy.
