Hi where is your guy getting his tux from? buy or rent? is he getting the longer style or the regular length? and is there an online store where we can order? thanks so much!

buy, trying to get from sierratradingpost or bluefly.com, but tuxes dont come up with huge sales regularly.

do you just get a jacket, and wear any black pants, or does it usually come in a set?

I think a set...not totally sure though.

dh rented his from a local tux shop. vest, tie, pants, jacket, shirt & shoes.

Mine found a style he really loved at Jimsformalwear.com and called up our local rep for that company. Turns out they GIVE the tux to the groom AND it''s free to rent when you have 5 other guys renting tuxes. So, unbelievable enough, FI will OWN a tux after all is said and done for absoulutley nothing. I couldn''t believe it. Why can''t they somehow work that out for us brides???

Check them out for sure! It was the deciding factor between doing suits or tuxes :)

Mine is renting, but his is free since all the groomsmen will be renting too. He has no use for one aside from the wedding day so I can''t see the purpose of buying one now, and our wedding is way too formal for a suit. He picked an amazing Ralph Lauren style which is, gasp, $160 to rent! The groosmen, luckily, are all well off enough not to freak. And it WAS the nicest one in the shop...

FI is renting from a local tux shop...regular length, vest, tie, and shoes.

Tuxedos are a type of suit, which by definition means that the jacket and pants come together and are made of the same material. Tux pants have a stripe on the side, and no belt loops, which is why the top of the pants is typically covered with either the cumberbund or vest.

I don''t know about online, but FI bought his at Men''s Warehouse. Reasonable, but nicer fabric and more expensive than renting. Like anything else, I would try to have the guy at least try on something similar by the manufacturer before buying blind online, as each will be cut slightly differently. Yes alteration will help but it is best to start as close to right as possible.

You usually need a suit, shoes, shirt, a tie, and a vest or cumberbund. Some places have package deals, some bill for each item separately.
