I had my make-up and hair trial today!!! I''m even more excited about the wedding now! Everything came out REALLY well. I thought I''d share some pics we took. Unfortunately I don''t think the flash was on for the make-up pics. So the make-up looks MUCH darker then it actually is IRL.

spark - thanks! I will be wearing a veil for the ceremony only. It''s short though...like maybe to the shoulder blades?? don''t remember...hehe....but i know it''s not long. I kind of feel bad to cover the orchid though, since i LOVE it soooooooo much. But I really love the veil i picked w/ my dress.
 
You look so great!! Is it a real orchid or a pin? Maybe you could put the orchid in after you take off the veil?
 
It''s real. And delicate, so I don''t want to risk putting it in myself. I really want the veil too. But I figure it will only be covered for maybe an hour tops.

orchids are actually much hardier than they look, which is why they last so long out of water.

one of my best friends did something similar...veil for ceremony and orchid for reception after she took off the veil. i bet your hairstylist could show your mom or MOH how to put it in and it wouldn''t be too difficult at all. I actually think this might be less rough on the flower, just because with your veil rubbing up against it for a few hours (ceremony, pictures, etc) and if the wind is blowing when you walk outside it will crush the flower a bit and it might not look as fresh for when you get to the reception...just a thought!
 
Karasue, that sounds like a great idea. Cdt - doing this might enable you to have 2 separate and totally fresh, clean looks. The veil might obstruct the orchid so people won''t be able to really appreciate its beauty.

You didn''t happen to try the veil and the orchid, did you? Just wondering how you thought it looked.

Indie - yes MAC did my make-up. I''m actually having the girl that did the trial come to the house the day off to do my make-up as well as all the BMs. I wish the pictures had come out better for the make-up because she really did a great job. She used pinks and greens on the eyes and it looked awesome! It looked very fresh, if that makes sense? It doesn''t translate in the pics though. I LOVE MAC and knew I would go that route for the wedding. LOVE LOVE LOVE all the vibrant colors they have!

My FI asked that if I get makeup done for it not to be done by MAC. He doesn''t understand that I can request a "bridal" makeup application. He''s only seen it when it''s been done for NYE etc.

Wow Cdt! You look beautiful! I''m thinking of wearing my hair the same way, minus the flower (although the orchid is a gorgeous touch). My hair''s not as long as yours is though. I love the curls!

I LOVE the eye make up! Those greens and the way it makes your eyes look so open and fresh! You look radiant! I love the idea of switching the veil out for an orchid. Fabulous!
 
If I can be totally honest for a moment...

You look lovely! Absolutely radiant! However you might want to reconsider the piece of hair in the front. I used to do bridal hair all the time, and I would advise my clients against having anything "hanging" down in their face. Naturally, it''s our human nature to "brush" the hair away and tuck it -- so I would suggest, draping the hair and lightly pinning it behind the ear anyway (like you had in your picture at MAC). Also, make sure the curls are **really** sprayed...since they seem loose, you dont want them falling quickly!

italian - thanks for the suggestion. Actually I HATE my hair completely off my face, so i''m going w/ the piece in the front for sure. As for the curls...my hair is naturally VERY curly. This is actually w/ my hair blown out straight and then lightly curled. I''m actually worried if it''s humid out my hair will get MORE curly, not the other way around...hehe. For my brother''s wedding i had it blown out super straight. It ended up being 100 degrees that day and my hair was curly by the end of the night.
