I get slightly annoyed when I read certain cliches in second-hand jewelry ads … things like, “Buy it now before I change my mind!” or “Won’t last long at this price!”
I won’t do that in this post, but I *do* want to relay how important this ring and the making of it has been to me.

I won’t do that in this post, but I *do* want to relay how important this ring and the making of it has been to me.
- I bought the five (5) Jedi baguette cut spinels from Yvonne Raley in 2017 for $268 and held fast to them because of their impossibility to find elsewhere. I have unsuccessfully searched for material of this quality in this cut and in this size and haven’t seen even one contender in six years.
- The six (6) 2mm rounds, which are also from Yvonne and of the coveted neon Jedi variety were $210 bringing the total cost of the 11 stones to $478.
- The ring design and fabrication in 18K yellow gold by DanielM cost $450.
- Total cost for the ring was therefore $928.
- As spinel enthusiasts know, the cost of inimitable and truly jaw-dropping neon Jedi material has been on the rise every year with no signs of stopping.
- I have worn the ring perhaps 20 times and it’s in excellent condition. I have just come to terms that no matter how beautiful and rare the stones, if I don’t like the aesthetic on my hands, it’s got to go.
- I will give this a bath in the ultrasonic before sending to ensure the ring is as good as new for its new owner!
- Given the amount of time that has passed since purchasing the stones — their value is considerably higher than what I paid in 2017 — plus the near-impossibility of sourcing the baguettes, I am asking $900/shipped in the US, slightly less than I paid for the project.
- International sellers are welcome provided you have a record of successful purchases and agree to add $15 to cover additional shipping charges and the fun of filling out customs forms.
