Happy Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake!

As already mentioned, I am a Snake, which means I have a significant birthday coming up that ends with "0", can't wait!

No work for me today - I always take CNY off as well as my birthday,

Off to have a nice meal at a pan-Asian all you can eat restaurant that I like.

Enjoy your day for those who celebrate the lunar new year!

DK :))

Happy lunar new year to you too DK. My dad is a snake too!! Usually they say if it's your "year" then you won't have much luck but I hope you can prove that wrong. We just had NYE dinner at my in laws. I still kinda feel in between being a child and an adult lol. I should be hosting a meal today but I probably need a few years practice to get all the preparations and dishes ready.

My in laws were saying that this generation (mine) are losing all the traditions. We don't even have an altar at home lol.

Happy new year to all who celebrate! We had almost Szechuan (adapted the recipe slightly) noodles with peanut sauce - I believe noodles are good fortune for the new year.

Gung hay fat choy!

Happy Chinese New Year @dk168. Are you going to wear your new ring when you go out for dinner? I hope you have a fun night.

Happy New Year!

Not the meal tonight as it is very casual. Won't be long until my birthday so it can wait.

Happy New Year! I'm a snake, too, so perhaps this year's the time for a snake ring. :D

It's a lot of work for an oriental banquet with so many dishes.

Hence I am going out this evening to have a meal at this pan-Asian all-you-can-eat restaurant. Food is good there and lots of choices, with no cooking and no washing up, what's not to like?!

I do miss the special food around this time of the year though, the mochi-like rice glutenous rice cake (sliced, coated in egg and pan-fried), special crisps from Arrowhead, fried balls of grated yam, candied water chestnut, lotus root and seeds, giant Chinese 5-spice peanuts, melon seeds, etc. etc...

Enjoy your day!

Happy Lunar New Year everyone!!!

I wore this today because it felt so much like all the mandarins and oranges you see as decoration at this time of the year!

I have a snake ring in the works, with this tiny 8mm commemorative coin from the Royal Mint, the coin is very cute and I need to use a loupe in order to appreciate the design!

The ring design will be one of these two (leaning towards the one on the left), in Platinum and it will be added to my Right Hand Ring collection:

Just a thought, I could make that ring as a signet ring for my RH pinkie.

I normally only wear one ring per hand, and don't want to make it into a pinkie ring for me not to like wearing a second ring on my hand.

Decision, decision...
