Would you please link me to a thread about your red spinel?

I think I saw it, but I''d really like to see it again. I read the Palagems page about the spinel necklace engraved with the name of Shah Jahan, and I was mesmerized by how beautiful that necklace is. I''ve always liked spinels, but since I read that article, I can''t get them out of my mind. You must be so proud of that ring. It''s beautiful.

Thanks.

Yes Harriet, the spinel looks stunning. Please tell us more.

Harriet,

Ditto. It''s amazing. Thank you.

Thanks!

Ok, now I'm just being greedy, but may we please have the links for your tsavorite and your diamond?

I'd like to say, in particular, that the design of the tsavorite ring is extraordinary. I like the way the marquise diamonds (and I'm a fan of that shape) are used to "hold up" the tsavorite. I'm no expert but it has an Art Deco feeling to me.

Thanks, Harriet! I'm sorry if I'm being a pest.

LOL!!

Oh my. That tsavorite ring is beautiful. I dare say you couldn't find anything better at Harry Winston et al. Thank you.

You''re welcome. I''ll be continuing the marquise motif in earrings. Let me dig up a picture of the stones.

These are waiting to be set.

"3.597 I VS2 ACA from WF". The setting is, how do you say- tdf. Whoa!

Your new stones are great. The marquise motif works beautifully. I can't wait to see this project.

Thank you, Harriet.

No, thank you.

Which gems are you interested in?

This is the list I made in the if money were no object thread. I think these represent my core interests. They''re in no particular order.

Yellow sapphire.
Tanzanite.
Spessarite.
Tsavorite.
Spinel (red).
Ruby.
Amethyst.
Aquamarine.
Diamond (H or even less "white").
Pearls (South Sea, various colors).

Harriet,

Your red spinel setting is the inspiration for my blue sapphire e-ring (still searching for sapphire). I do know that this type of a halo setting couldn''t really be worn daily as other e-rings (although, I will still try to wear it daily). However, when you say the "split band" is delicate, are you referring to the design (which is obviously "delicate") or the manner in which you wear it. Any advise for someone trying to copy that setting/design?

I appreciate the advice.

Harriet,

I wanted to ask you about your collection. You have some beautiful stones now.

Are you buying them for investment pieces or pure enjoyment! Which leads me to the next question, if you don''t mind answering. Are you particular on whether a stone is heated or not?

My wishlist is growing....actually hasn''t gotten off the ground yet.

1..A blue sapphire
2..A pad sapphire
3..A tsavorite
4..A red spinel

I''m still trying to release myself from the guilt of wanting anything else other then my diamond!

I remembering you saying something about hubby supporting a colored stone habit as cost was relatively less than a diamond habit.

Harriet, some of the stones on my wishlist, unheated are in diamond pricing territory - obviously size equivalent, but nontheless a large outlay. I''m looking for 9mm length stones.

Hi Sparkles,

I collect stones purely for pleasure. Although they are durables, I don''t think of them as investments for a number of reasons: 1. I won''t part with them; and 2. I don''t know how liquid the market for them is. Having said that, rarity does factor into my decision-making, but only if I love the stone (e.g. I have a neon yellow danburite which I can''t really set). In general, I''m not particular about heat. But, I shy away from it if it negates a characteristic I want (e.g. silkiness in a Kashmiri sapphire).

We''d be happy to help you build that wishlist.

Based on your current one and the price trends, I''d prioritise.

I''ll realse you from your guilt -- hand over that honker!
