Has anyone got 14k or 18k yellow or rose gold from DK to show me the difference?

Ring in my avatar is DK 14K gold. Love it!

Gorgeous ring! I don’t think that color would jar with my diamond, it’s definitely on the possibles list!

I have DKs 18k rose gold and I love it. It reminds me of antique gold, deeply hued and slightly rosy. Not nearly as rosy / pink as 14krg. I'm with @elle_71125 : I feel like the 18k rg just makes my stone stand out/ look brighter. But next to 14k yg my stone looks warmer. I wear an 18k yg band frequently with my stone and I love that too.

Oh I really like that color it looks like an antique rose gold necklace I have which does suit my skin tone. I think I just need to ask DK to compare the antique 18k yellow gold and 18k rose gold next to my stone. I’ve decided to go with the 18k gold as I just ordered two colored stone eternities earlier in 18k so at least that has narrowed my options!
Eeek getting excited!

Dang, your comparison pic was great at showing the color! You’re putting us all to shame with those pics.

I hope I didn't go overboard here but thought I might be able to help a little. My stone is a gia N that sometimes looks white, sometimes creamy, sometimes soft yellow. Shown in different lighting with 18k rose gold and 18k yellow gold. (The yg band is stamped '98...so not old but not new either. Not sure how it compares to 18k antique gold). But just looking between these 2 on my hand, I feel like there's more contrast with the rg...maybe that's why it seems to have a different /brightening effect? My ring needs a spa day so no judging.

Check out Reinstein Ross’ 20k peach gold and 22kt apricot gold. Of course, the color will look a little different in a high polish band but this gives you an idea of colors. I’ve tried both on and remember loving the 20kt peach (but the apricot is gorgeous too).

Thank you for this, I sent an email earlier asking DK about 18k antique gold, rose and peach. I think I will probably end up going for one of the first two though.

Not at all, it’s much appreciated. Your stone and ring are just beautiful, I’ve often admired it but I had no idea it was an N. Which do you prefer it with? I feel like from the photos I like the rose gold, softer somehow?

@CHRISTY-DANIELLE But then the last photo it definitely tones better with the yellow gold. I guess it’s hard when these stones are such chameleons.

That's a tough call. I like both. I do think the rg is a softer look. But it also offers the most contrast too. That's why I wanted to show you in different light.. the metals change as well as the stones depending on lighting. But your skin tone will matter too. My skin is neutral, but if you're more rosy or more olive that'll make a difference too. Agh so many decisions!

Geez it’s complicated! Well I don’t suit bright rose gold, but I think I would be ok with your ring. I am fair with a yellow undertone!

I have some 14k rose gold earrings and I just compared them to my 18krg. The 14krg is lighter and more pink. The 18k rg to me is kind of a bridge between the 14krg and 18kyg.

I have the Reinstein Ross apricot in a pair of tiny hoops if you'd like to see what that looks like compared to yellow. I can try to take a photo that shows it just let me know.

Thank you very much for the offer but looking at the apricot I don’t think it would work with my skin tone.

Yes that is the vibe I was picking up so it may work well.

Does anyone know of a thread comparing DK’s white metal options? I hear he has a white gold that doesn’t need rhodium plating.

HI white gold doesn't need plating but I don't have any photos comparing white metal options.

@meely Hey! I saw these 18k yg and 18k rg rings together on an IG (ehnoring) listing. I photoshopped in my N (in natural light). I think it really shows the difference. Still seems to me that 18kyg is more subtle but with the 18krg there's more contrast.

Thanks for doing that, so sweet of you. Has your stone got yellow undertones? Mine definitely has (as opposed to brown).
I54F19983-5739-4381-82BF-74D252D57D05.png have a slight up date as DK put my stone in a 18k RG pendant and I really didn’t like it. The contrast was not attractive to my eyes. So I am looking at a 50/50 combination and I might speak him about the peach I don’t think I mentioned that before it’s hard because I cannot see any of these before making a decision.

Yes, yellow undertones. Just looking at these pics, our stones are very similar. Does he have the 18k antique yg? I saw a sample on Stuller.

Found it! DK usually uses the 18k Royal yg (upper right). The biggest sample on left is 18k yg in Rich Yellow. I threw my pic in there so you can see an N next to them. DK can get any color of 18k you want. Hope it helps!

So the heart ring is antique yellow gold.

This band is 50/50 rose and yellow which we both agreed looked best however the photo Seems very overexposed/strong white lighting so I am not sure I am getting an accurate gauge.

Perhaps the peach suggested earlier needs to be explored further

Oh you are a star but I don’t think any of them are quite right I definitely want a more muted look.
I’ve even been thinking do I go unplated white but my heart was set on yellow it’s definitely what I am drawn to with antique cuts and I wanted it to look Victorian :???:

If your heart is set on yellow, that's what you should get! I'm sure you'll find a color you like. I do like the bottom picture. It looks muted from the lighting, but I can imagine a combo of 50/50 18k yg and rg. I think it'll be beautiful! Wasn't there a lot of rose gold in Victorian era jewelry?

Yes there was lots of rose gold but I don’t think it’s right for this stone. I like all the rose and yellow golds it’s just a case of finding the right one I guess. I was thinking even if I found a pale more muted yellow gold that isn’t necessarily going to look right for the style of ring I am going for. Pale and muted is not very Victorian :D

@meely what a lovely stone you have! I’m excited to see what you choose for your gold color, it can be a bit of a challenge with some stones. I had an N colored cushion that had a green undertone and set her in 18kt RG. It brought out a bit of a weird color in the stone in certain lighting that didn’t quite go and always bothered me. I also have an N very light brown moval set in 18kt red gold and it goes very well with this stone. So I understand how tough it can be to get the right fit with these stones and metal color-best of luck :)

Thanks stepcutnut. I think it’s doubly difficult as I haven’t seen the stone in person, if I had I would have worked it all out I’m sure ;)2
Hopefully I’ll make a decision soon, I really just want to get the thing now!

I'm not sure what kind of design you are planning, but maybe use unplated wg around the stone ( is a lovely slightly warmish color unplated) and then your yg for shank. That way the yg color is not right next to your stone.
