Hi everyone!

I just needed to vent a little...

I purchased my "eloping" dress last month, but I am seriously having second thoughts to the point where I am having dreams and nightmares about it!

Here''s the original thread with pictures of my dress:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/i-bought-my-dress-or-at-least-i-think-it-is-going-to-end-up-as-my-dress.76186/

It''s a bit unconventional with the black lace, but I was trying to be different because my FI and I are eloping. I don''t feel comfortable wearing a more traditional looking wedding dress, but was looking more for something nice that I am able to wear beyond the day we get married. We are getting pictures taken of us professionally after we get our license from the courthouse, so we both want to be dressed up.

My problem with the dress, and I don''t know if it''s because I am overthinking things (I tend to overanalyze A LOT), is that maybe it makes my hips look big. I know it''s a stupid thing to obsess about, but the style of the dress, with the pleating, gives that idea. I had posted the dress elsewhere and one of the responses was exactly that -- that because I am petite, it overwhelms my frame. I had planned on having the dress shortened to about knee length.

Am I overthinking/analyzing? Should I get another dress? The good thing about this is that I purchased the dress from Neiman Marcus and I can return it anytime so long as I don''t alter it. I worry that if I return it, what happens if I change my mind and the dress is sold out? It already sold out online in my size, and it was the last one in the store.

I don''t know if I jumped the gun. I felt really great when I initially tried on the dress, but now, I am totally having second doubts.

What do you guys think? Am I being irrational? Should I look for something else? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for letting me vent!

When is your wedding date? Why don''t you go out and try on some other dresses? Maybe you will find something that you love even more, without question. Don''t return this dress until you find another one, then you won''t have to worry about not having access to it, if you don''t find something you love more.

You should have a dress that you feel superfabulous in with no reservations whatsoever!!

Makes your hips look big? *scratches head* I''m not seeing it. I thought it makes you look tall, slender, and very, very elegant.

Just my two cents, anyways!

I agree 100%. I also think you look amazing in the Marchesa. Not hippy at all. Whoever made that comment is nutso.

I don''t think it makes you look hippy or big, but because of your size I admit it looks to me like the dress is wearing you and not the other way around. If you are feeling hippy in it, that is only going to get worse if you shorten the skirt which will shorten the line and possible make the pleats poof out more without the extra weight.
Frankly, if you are having dreams about this being the wrong dress than it is probably the worng dress.

Just wanted to say that yours is one of my very favorite dresses posted on Pricescope.

If you feel uncomfortable in it that is one thing. And the idea of shortening it to knee length makes me nervous.

I think the dress as is though looks totally gorgeous on you. It really is so elegant, sophisticated and unique.
