I bought this amazing ribbon to use to tie closed the invitation folders. However, when you cut it, it frays badly.

What do you think I could use to prevent the ribbon from coming apart at the ends?

I have used some stuff called Fray Block on material. It''s pretty strong because I used it on some material that was taking some serious wear (made short flags for practice and performance).

I learned this trick from dance class and having to sew the ribbons on my pointe shoes. Take a lighter and very carefully put at the end of the ribbon. Just very lightly go back and forth until the frayed ends are gone.

Cutting the ribbon at a sharp angle helps. Make an inverse 'V' with two snips (as in, the point of 'V' is facing up, not down).

I wonder if a drop of glue or some spray adhesive would work?

All awesome ideas! I''ll have to try each one and see which works the best- thanks a million!

Great question shigidigi!!!

I like the inverted "V" idea from Indy (must go try it!) but I did a few of my ribbon samples with a tiny brush of clear nail polish to the very edge and it worked like a charm...just give them plenty of time to dry as well as air out...you don''t want them to stick to anything or have a waft of nail polish smell be the first thing that hits your guests when they open the invite!
