Gorgeous pics J!

I read the previous thread where you were trying to decide where to go. I forget though, what was it that made you decide to go to Maui instead of another island? I''ve never been to Hawaii, but it''s my dream vacation. I have no idea how to make the decision of where to go though.

we choose maui because it seemed like a mix of all the islands and what we were looking for. i really wanted to see volcanic rock, lava tubes, black sand beaches, etc. i thought that was only on the big island, but when i found out that could be seen on the road to hana, i was sold. maui is a good balance of rest and relaxation + stuff to do. and that''s exactly what we were looking for. a little beach. a little sight seeing. all good.

Polynesian Black Pearl
Chocolate mousse and Liliko’i cream in a pastry seashell

and you should have tasted our lunch! freshest fish i''ve ever eaten. and probably the best. it was divine!

Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing. You totally psyched me out -- FI and I are going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and we are sooooo excited. It is such a special place. I always go and feel like I never want to come back. I can almost taste the fresh papaya.

You have amazing photography skills, too! Beautiful!

Ugh..8 hours in the airport - not fun! What did you think about biking down the volcano? Were you a wuss like I was?

Once I got the hang of it, I was fine, but for the first few miles I was a nervous wreck!

well, we didn''t bike it. and i was happy we didn''t. after being so utterly cold.. the last thing i wanted to do was be outside with the wind on my face soaring down the side of a volcano.

Yeah, once we got to the top and felt how cold it was, we were definitely having second thoughts about biking down. Luckily, once the sun came up, it got warmer and on our way down the volcano we were literally peeling our clothes off. One of my best friends had gone a few years prior and told us exactly how to dress and what to expect. We brought lots of warm clothes and the Four Seasons even gave all the guest blankets to huddle under while on the crater. We were nice and toasty for the most part.

Honestly, I can''t remember so, I guess maybe that means no. I''m looking at our pictures (I have one on my desk at work) and it doesn''t appear to be windy. Must be the time of year we went.
