Quick background- we''ve been dating for 5 years on Oct. 19th, living together for the past 2 years, and talking about getting married for awhile.

My best friend is coming to visit Oct. 24-26. I haven''t seen her in a couple of years so my SO and I have been talking about making some plans to really have fun. Well on Friday we''re talking and he asks if I want to do dinner or VIP at a club with my friend. While I''m debating, he says "Ha, it doesn''t matter, we''re doing both. I''ve already made reservations and gotten a group together." I tell him I think it''s a bit much and he responds "Well it''s our engagement party so it should be too much." LONG PAUSE "Um you won''t be engaged by then, so it''s an early party, but that''s ok right?" I reassure him that it is just fine, but I do not believe him for one second! Who has an engagement party before the engagement?

Hooray! I''m down to about 3 weeks tops now.

thats too funny...yea my FI slipped too but instead of a quick "recovery" like your SO mine just hung up the phone... our converstation went as follows:

Em: so what are you up to
M: notihng really just hanging around

*NOTE* (this was just like a week since he picked up my ring so when ever he said hanging around it really ment starting at "how cool" the asscher is)

EM: umm ok
M: yea so this weekend is big
EM: yea why whats up (giddy with high hopes)
M: "steven" dude i asking em to marry me saturday.....LOOONG Pause...
EM: WHAT?!!?
M: OMG em....
EM: WHAT DID YOU SAY...LOOONG SILENCE....
M:...CLICK...

the smart one fogot who he was on the phone with and thought he was still talking to one of his guy friends...and when he realized it was me he hung up....

so propos to your FI for spilling the beans but coming up with a recovery....

My super smart SO also told me not to tell any of our friends that I know about the dinner and party plans because he told them it was a surprise and not to tell me. Of course hunny, that super secret surprise engagement party that will take place before we get engaged. I''m really believing you now. He''s just terrible with surprises.

This is what I get for "multitasking" at work. I should stop trying to work and just hang around on PS all day so this doesn''t happen again.

I just love how adorable useless men can be sometimes - this will be a conversation you will giggle about with your friends when they get there, over champgane celebrating your ENGAGEMENT!!!!!!!!!

I just laugh my backside off every time I see this story - Emilina, your DF is such an adorable dufuss! I can''t just imagine the look on his face when he hangs up the phone. You gotta love them when they are this cute!!!!

diamondsfordee- dont even worry about it lol but yea we did get engaged last december there are a couple of threads from when it happend

honey- i do love my dufuss... its really funny cause when every anyone asks how we got engaged thats always a part of our story...lol
