I just got back from my run and Andrew and Adam are having a big bowl of cookie dough ice cream...my favorite! I am hiding out in the office until they are finished. So far, no sugar except a few grapes after my lunch. Are the no sugar people eating fruit?

I am Steph: For lunch I had berries with non fat yogurt
36.gif
I am buying the huge bags of frozen fruit at Costco. DH and I love the mixed berry bag.

OK Holly, you just made me feel better. YES, I am game. It will take a LOT of work for my thighs to look like hers though. I need a lot of lippo.

We''ll turn our cottage cheese thighs into smooth and creamy skin!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for letting me join! I''ve very excited to get started on my 10lbs weight loss goal. And yes, I do agree that I need a plan, and I do have one. Here''s a little bit about me....I''m a teacher, and I currently weigh 145 and I''m 5''8" tall. I''m a die hard runner, and that has been my go-to weight loss plan...but I need something to jump start me. Technically I''m within the "healthy" range for my body, but I''d still like to lose the last ten before my wedding. My goal is to lose all of it by April 1st. Here''s my plan (let me know what you think...I''m VERY open to suggestions!!)

-I started keeping a food journal to write down everything I eat.
-No more drinking Monday -Thursday or Sundays
-I will be working out on my home treadmill Mon-Fri covering AT LEAST 2-3 miles each morning before I go to work
-I''m adding strength training 2-3 days a week after my treadmill time.
-I''m back on Herablife vitamins 2x a day, and drinking 2 Shapeworks shakes one for breakfast and one for lunch during the work week. (It''s similar to Slim Fast but all natural)
-My goal is to drink @ least 32 oz of water a day...if not more
-On Saturdays I will be taking new/different classes @ my local Y, or going on long runs/hikes around my neighborhood. (I love running outside so this is fun for me.

What do you guys think? Am I missing something?

Thanks again!
:)ILE

That sounds good Linda. Actually I have one of those big bags in the freezer, thanks for reminding me!

Wow, 2 pages of posts since I last posted; that is AWESOME!!!!

Well yesterday I RAN 1 mile and walked 1 mile; it was weird because I didn't think I could do it. I ran that one time it was hailing but I thought that was a fluke.
Today I jog/walked 3 miles mostly walked but threw in some sprinits for fun!
9.gif
Also we got Indian food for lunch; I love their tandori chicken and naan so I for sure needed to workout today. I also went to costco for some pineapple and apples to snack on!!! Hubby is making a low cal chilli, with lots of beans, tomatos and lean ground beef. Have a great FRIDAY NIGHT ALL
35.gif

STEPH, LINDA and MISKA, I am eating fruit; I love it and yogurt! hehe Sound like you ladies are doing awesome!!! Wooo hoo!

LINDA, I was at costco too and got fruit for my yogurt! Great minds! hehe

STEPH, love the new avatar!!!!! Andrew is adorable! Yay for your run, you are my inspiration! Yay for staying strong on the sugar!

DEEJAY, I hope you are feeling better today. Wooo for the killer workouts. You will lose it!

MARCY, yum to brownies. I bet everyone loved them!

ROD, oh gosh, that is awful about Roy's; I don't blame you for complaining especially when it is crazy expensive like that!!! I hope they do something as an apology. Enjoy your sushi tonight!

LORELEI, love the new avatar; sooooooo cute, I love thumper! hehe

TINKERBELL, welcome; I am a huge walker, I love it and it helps with my mood. Maybe start with 15 walks each day and build up? Not sure if it is nice weather where you are. Glad you joined us!

LLIANG, bummer about work. Yay for yoga and resistance training.

PANDA, yay for wedding planning, I am so excited for you!!! I will go to BWW next to read your post. hugs. Oh you are so sweet about thinking of me, um, because I was in the 50's for wii. hehe

TACORI, which thing did you like on the wii? The running I love!!! It is super cute! I was 52 yrs. hehe Wii is a dork!!!
25.gif

MERRYMUNKY, yay for a nice day shopping! sending you a hug!

APPLE, I have a few WW cookbooks and love them!! Hubby loves them too!

KIMI, I missed you; glad you are back! How was NY? You will lose those quick.

HOLLY, yay for your healthy meal!!!! Good for you; you are doing awesome! They say if you lose 1-2 lbs a week that is healthy. I am slower at losing weight though; I think when I averaged it out I lost 1/2 lb a week over time.

ILUVEMERALDS, yay for a food journal; that keeps me in check for sure!! I have about 10 lbs to lose too. Wow, you sound like you are in great shape!!! I wouldn't pay too much attention to the scale if you are healthy and in great shape though.
28.gif
Maybe add weights/muscle work so you become toned. I actually have a friend who is my height and this was years ago but she weighed more than me but was muscle and wore a smaller size so the scale isn't always a good indicator of heath, just a side note but welcome. I bet you can teach us some stuff w/your runs and good health!!!

Yea for running Skippy! I am really slow...like so slow some power walkers almost passed me, but I love it. Good, glad to know you gals are eating fruit, I would hate to cut it out!

Oh yeah and I am on a huge carrot kick too; they are sweet to me! hehe Steph, you are so sweet, thanks, but I bet I am slower than you but it great to get way to our heart rates up!!!!
9.gif
Oh no, I can't give up fruit; I love apples and pineapple. hehe I am just giving up refined sugar stuff, like cookies, ice cream those things that get me craving more sugar, you know.

Okay, I just spent an hour playing with my wii (half the time on wii fit). I am kinda mad b/c I haven''t been saving my scores so I had to start over of my skill levels. Oh well. Live and learn. So the body test on the wii was mortifying. Haha. My mii has a matching spare title. I AM in the overweight section (for my BMI) but *just* barely. I am thinking I will be in the normal soon. I unlocked two games in the 30 mins or so I played. I played so much wii tennis and bowling today (probably another hour when she was napping) my arms and shoulders are sore! How pathetic!

Holly, you can TOTALLY so it!!!

Iluv, sounds like you have a solid plan. I am sure you will drop those 10 lbs by your wedding if you stick with it.

Skippy, yay for running. Wish I liked it but I hate it! I did the fit test with the sports CD and the wii fit. Both were pretty terrible.

Steph, yay for fighting temptation!

Sounds like the no sugar team is doing great!!!

Aww thanks Skippy! I''m blushing. :) Most people would consider me to be in good shape I guess...but I just want more. (the perfectionist side of me kicking in) I always had a vision of how I want to look on my wedding day...and I know I''m not there yet. I def. want the toned arms...so my goal for this month is more "non-girlie" pushups.

I see you guys posting about fruit and yogurt....I love yogurt with frozen berries from Publix and Bear Naked granola. I buy the big tub of vanilla yogurt and just add frozen berries and granola. It''s cheaper per month than buying pre packaged yogurt, and it''s really yummy! Plus with the big tub of yogurt I can make smoothies in the morning with yogurt, a quaker granola weight control pack (cinammon is my fav), and a few berries. Mix it up with about a 1/2 cup of milk and its super yummy! Plus it keeps me full till lunch. (It''s about 200 cals depending on how much of each ingredient you put in).

I love the Wii. Got one for hubby on his birthday in May. Tennis is such a good workout. I am going to be on the lookout for a Wii Fit soon...they have been out of stock everytime I go look. I''m sure you''ll be in the normal range very soon!

TACORI OMG, me too; I have to lose 3 or 4 lbs I think to be in the normal, if I remember correctly.

STEPH, right now Target has them on sale till close on Saturday; ask if you can get a raincheck for the $89 price.

IluvEmeralds, you can do it!!! Oh your yogurt concoction sounds yummy! hehe I love fage w/fresh raspberries. hehe

Is it possible to lose 20 lbs, and some significant inches by my 50th birthday in mid-April? That''s my first goal, in a long list of goals.
It''s definitely doable, Holly. Not sure when your b-day is, but mid-April (the 15th) is about 14.5 weeks from now. Average and healthy weight loss ranges from 1-2 pounds a week. If you''re someone who might give up if you don''t quite meet a goal I''d aim for 15 pounds and be happy with whatever more you might get, if you prefer a bit of a challenge and won''t beat yourself up for not quite making it, go for 20. It''s typical to lose more per week in the beginning, and then loss decreases over time, but you''ll still see major changes to your shape and inches off if you''re adding exercise and strength training to your routine.

SOunds like you are off to a fantastic start!
Thanks for the encouragement! I have a goal of 20-25 lbs, but will not be disappointed in 15 and inches lost. I refuse to let plateaus, or anything else dissuade me from the ultimate goal of a significant, very visable, weight and fitness change by the end of 2009. Eyes on the prize!
9.gif

By this time in 2010, I should really enjoy the gym! (I hope.
2.gif
)
My pleasure, Holly. The prize is quite rewarding, I was quite tiny until I hit 20, then gained a significant amount of weight and then lost most of what I gained about 6 years ago. I have relearned my love of exercise and really enjoy eating healthily. Sorry for going on, it''s a subject I feel quite passionate about and I''m sure you''ll do fantastic. This is a great place to find support.

Skip Manhattan was all about splurging and walking and plays and enjoying J''s company. It was a blast, thanks for asking. We ate at some amazing restaurants nad just had fun.

Ooooh, thanks for the tip Skippy. I will drop by tomorrow!

Skippy, how did you find how much weight you needed to lose to be in "normal"?

Steph, I am seriously sore but I am really out of shape. I would look online for the wii fit. Amazon maybe?

Wow, lot''s of posts since I wrote this afternoon. I worked till 5, then met Charlie for sushi, which was terrific as always. Our friend (the one I wrote about a few weeks ago who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer) and her daughter joined us for dinner. She is consulting with specialists, but it looks like she''s going to have a double mastectomy and immediate reconstructive surgery. She''s taking it all really well. After dinner, we had coffee at Sbucks and finished our chocolate cake from yesterday. I''m all caked out and will now wait until next year at the holidays. Only 12 months till my next chocolate cake treat!!

Welcome home Kimberly. I''m you and John had a lot of amazing food and the scale gods were kind!! NY is one of the most gastronomically fantastic cities on the planet! You are right that the average person gains a couple pounds over the holidays, but most don''t lose them and year over year, the pounds add up. At least we know all our friends here on the HLT won''t let that happen!!

Steph, LOL over you hiding while Adam and Andrew ate ice cream. I still couldn''t give up sugar!

Holly, like Lorelei and Kimberly mentioned, your goal is certainly achievable. But I agree with Kimberly that you have 14 weeks and the best, safest weight loss is about a pound per week. We have a saying here on the HLT, "Slow And Steady Wins the Race!" If you lose 15 pounds by April, that would be something to be mighty proud of for sure! Good for you setting a goal and putting a plan in place to achieve that goal!! BTW......50 is a great birthday. It was the year I decided to embark on Rebuild Rod and I''ve stuck to it and completely changed my life since. I''ll be 54 next week!

WOW DeeJay, that''s really something that you''re going to climb 80 flights of stairs! I''m so impressed! I hope you enjoy your PT session on Monday!

Linda, I don''t think I''d put much credibility into the Wii''s ability to accurately assess a persons age - LOL. I think you should just have fun with it. Sorry for the bad weather your way.

OK.....Rod out for the day. I''ll check in tomorrow. Sleep well everyone.

ILuvEmeralds, you''ve got a great plan going there. I''m sure you''ll reach your goals!!

Wow Skippy.......You ran a mile??!! WOO HOO for you. You''re going to become a runner. I just know it! It''s so good for your cardio vascular system and running burns calories like crazy!! And you don''t have to run fast to reap the positve rewards. Go Skppy Go!!!

Tacori, I think you just need to have fun with your Wii and not let it insult you.

Good idea...much better than fighting the crowds for it!

Steph, here is were I bought my Wii Fit http://www.gameinstock.com/wiifit.html All of the other stores I checked like Best Buy, Target, etc were all sold out. Our Target here, told me they had no idea when they would get more in stock. I didn''t want to wait that long.

Charlie: So glad you enjoyed the last of your Chocolate cake, it sounded like it was yummmy.

Hi everyone.
35.gif
I hope you had a great Friday. Our dinner was fun tonight. Our friends brought over pizza and we had some wine with it then I made brownie sundaes for all of us.We were going to play scrabble but the guys starting playing PS3 games and so us girls started talking jewelry.I got out my gem dish for her to look at and she was going crazy looking at all the different stones in there. She asked me to clean her rings (and they needed it) so I got out my steam cleaner too. Then she wanted to see my spessartite and spinel ring so pretty soon I had most of my rings out here showing her.It was a lot more fun than scrabble.Tee hee.
My contact is FINALLY in.I can pick it up tomorrow.Yippee!
I can’t believe the number of posts.Woo hoo.
Lorelei, I love your new “Thumper” avatar.I hope it warms up for you too and I would so die in a cold exercise room.
Rod, sorry your dinner was such a disappointment especially since it was so expensive.I am glad you thoroughly enjoyed your cake.Definitely schedule some time off at work. You certainly deserve it.The cocoa brownies never disappoint and our company thoroughly enjoyed them.
Tinkerbell, welcome to the thread! We are going to be cheering you on as you work towards your goal this year.
Gecko, now I am going to have to try those gingersnaps.Luckily for me I don’t even know where there is a TJ in my neck of the woods.
Miscka, the journey goes on one day at a time – woo hoo!
Lliang, I hope your sister wants to join you doing yoga. That would be fun.

Panda, I do agree some days eloping seems like a much better idea but your wedding will be worth all the hassles.
Tacori, yay for a great workout on the Wii.
MerryMunky, that is wonderful you had a nice time shopping with your mom. Lorelei beat me to what I was going to say; the journey s long and hard but well worth the outcome. You can do it!
Appletini, my mom has a WW cookbook too.I borrowed it for awhile. They are pretty nice.
Kimi, I am delighted to hear you had a marvelous time on your trip.
Steph, you were a busy bee today.
Holly, your eating and exercise plans sound marvelous. Your goal is definitely reachable by then but I wouldn’t worry about when you lose those 20 pounds, just work on it one day at a time. You are off to a great start.
DeeJay, climbing 80 flights of stairs will be quite an achievement!Enjoy your PT session on Monday.
Linda, rats for the rain.We are getting snow tonight.I can’t remember what the Wii fit told me for age but it was less than I am which I didn’t mind at all.
ILuvEmeralds (and I do too by the way) I think you have excellent plans for reaching your goal and you are off to a great start.
Skippy, congratulations on running today.
36.gif
What a athlete you are becoming you skinny lady.We did enjoy the brownies.I love carrots too.I eat them, grape tomatoes and cucumbers every day.
Have a great weekend.
Marcy

Hello all!

Hope your Saturday is great! I am gearing myself up for the old points counting which starts on Monday. I will be taking note of my starting weight on Monday morning too. I am aiming for about a lb a week loss for now.

Thank you everyone for the wam welcome. I guess I need to give some more background on myself. I was a varisty swimmer in high school (10 years ag0) and kept swimming until the HH and I moved to Germany in 2001. That''s when the weight gain started. In 2005 we moved to England and I am always cold here. You can take a girl out of CA but you can''t take the CA out of the girl, haha.

Anyways, back in June of this year I could run 1.5 miles in about 15-17 minutes. After we came back from our vacations (Bahamas and NYC for a wedding with lots of eating and drinking at both spots) I just stopped going to the gym.
38.gif
And that''s what really caused the weight gain. I just need to get back in the habit of going to the gym on a regular basis again and cut down on "easy" foods and take the time to make a healthy meal. In other words, no more excuses or being lazy anymore.

This morning I went for a walk wiht HH around our neighborhood for about an hour. Not sure how far we walked but it was nice to be out in the fresh air. And later today I am going to shampoo all carpets in the house and wax the few wood floors we have. That will work my arms and shoulders. Tomorrow is a gym day after church. HH will be going with me. I already have my bag packed and my heart moniter ready to go.

Sounds like you are all set Tinkerbell, you can totally do this! I do I ever sympathize with the horrible damp cold here - yuck.

Good morning. Well, got through another day without refined sugars...even with Andrew and Adam eating ice cream in front of me! This morning I tried a new cereal...Fiber 1 with a banana in it, very yummy. I am about to get ready to go on a nice long run. It should be a beautiful day here today. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Linda, thanks for the link!

Marcy, sounds like my kind of party! How fun!

Merry, great goal, not too much at once is better for keeping it off in the long run!

Tinkerbell, good for you for getting back into the swing of things. It is so easy to skip a few times and then not go again, but I think it is easy too to get into a routine to start going again. Have fun at the gym!
