Healthy Living Thread

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I have to admit I was chucking at the vision of you walking on way too big of snow shoes. It sounds challenging for you. Since Marty is 6’4” they should fit him just fine.

Good deal for getting through those magazines. I was awake most of the night because the wind was so bad I kept swearing someone way beating on the house or window or fence or something out there. That is what we get for having warmer weather.

How was the big meeting? We are having some big meetings soon for our company and benefits swap. Sounds fun!

Hi Sharon!

I had a crazy day at work. One issue after another. Some guy at corporate keeps sending us schedules that are wrong. The last time I talked to him today he hung up on me. How rude. I told my boss I spent my day winning friends and influencing people. I worked about 25 minutes late and through most of my lunch. I plan on taking a LONG lunch tomorrow. Ha!

I was reviewing the new company policies today and it looks like I’ll lose my cell phone reimbursement too. Phooey. I’ll remove my work email off of it and then I won’t feel compelled to work on my time off. Double Ha!

Well, take care.
Marcy

Curby, not sure if you saw the full exchange between Sharon and me, but do you have her email? If so, would you mind giving her mine? Thank you!

Hi Dee Jay, I did see it but I don't have her contact information. Missy might though. :wavey:

Gotcha, thanks!

Rod, we were posting at the same time.

LOL that show should never be touched.

Marty uses Zino too and really likes it. I just kind of quit reading magazines. I really go through all the Christmas catalogs we get though.

That was very nice of you and Charlie to take your neighbor out for his birthday. It's always nice to have someone surprise you with a treat on your birthday.

Did your placements go through okay?

Marcy

Marcy, we still haven't heard whether the guy is cleared to start or not. Since the client is a major wealth management firm, I'm very fearful a DUI will completely derail him.

I wouldn't be surprised. That is too bad all the way around.

HI:

lol Rod and DeeJay. Incidentally Rod, Vancouver had had the WORST year for weather. Cold temps, snow, and the most precipitation on record. My sister and millions of others are NOT too happy! They want to go to Florida!

The three PS people who (once) had my email address were AGBF, Diamondseeker and Karl. We'll find a way.

cheers--Sharon

Sharon, I have Diamondseeker's email (and therefore she has mine!) I'll send her a message right now. Sometimes my emails go into spam as they are coming from a hotmail account (which certain servers don't like) so it probably wouldn't hurt if you sent her one as well in case mine doesn't make it through.

This is like a game of telephone, LOL.

Well damn... I just sent a message to the email I had, ending in charter.net, and it came back as undeliverable. Hopefully you have a different one for her...?

Happy Thursday kids!

Curby, what a bummer that your cell phone reimbursement will go away! My firm will give me a phone, and even port my current number over, but I have never done it because I run my real estate business off that phone and I was never comfortable with that. (My boss says no problem at all, but it is a problem FOR ME.) Also, if they decide to escort me to the door I can't be left without a phone.

Rod, I hate to say it but I don't think you and Charlie would last five minutes in a Canadian winter! You've become too accustomed to the good life -- which just translates to being in a place with the potential of being below freezing for potentially for half the year isn't a part of your reality, ha ha!

Last night I downloaded a bunch of books from the library site and put some more on hold so I'll get notified when they become available. Today my big missions consisted of scrubbing the master shower and doing my nails. I've got laundry in right now so I can pack because I'm heading to Aspen tomorrow. My best traveling girlfriend is coming from NJ though and I'm not sure what's going to happen with the weather out east. Fingers crossed.

Other than that, I think a nap is in order this afternoon... Out Of Control here -- as usual! :cheeky:

I misplaced DS'ers email address as well. Maybe Deb has it....as I have hers.

cheers--Sharon

It just occurred to me that I have Skippy's email address and she is on the same email string I got DS's off of so I'll reach out to her right now too.

Hi Kids!

Sharon, I can see why people in Vancouver want to move to Florida after an awful winter. Our mountains have so much snow they are having roofs cave in and more avalanches than normal. I don’t think we’ve had that much snow overall here in town.

Dee Jay, I would be uncomfortable about using my work phone for another business too. Marty’s company gave him a phone when he started with them but it can’t get cellular service on that carrier here. Plus he wanted to keep his iPhone. Have fun in Aspen. It’s been pretty nice out in the west this week. Tell Skippy hi if you hear from her.

Work was crazy busy again today but no one hung up on me. I met a friend for lunch and then Marty and I went out to supper. Woo hoo no dishes tonight. Now that is a treat!

Take care.

Happy Friday kids!

Curby, I'll let you know if I hear back from Skippy. She's such a delight, and just as lovely in person as she is on PS!

Last night I did most of my packing for the trip. This morning I'm going to go and visit with someone about a possible business venture (yes, I know, Dee always has something up her sleeve...!) and then I'll head to the airport around 2:00. The CB left this morning to go ice fishing with a bunch of his buddies. Ice... fishing.... Yeah... NO! As he was turning up his gear last night I got to hear *yet again* about The Biggest Fish He ALMOST Ever Caught last year, but the line broke just as he was getting it out of the water. He'll be telling that one for the rest of his life, I'm sure. We'll be a hundred and he'll still be saying, "Let me tell you about this fish I ALMOST caught one time..."

OK, on with the day!

P.S. - Sharon - will let you know if I hear back from Skippy. At least her email didn't bounce back to me, so that's a good sign!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, Skippy seems to be one of the nicest ladies ever!

That’s great you are looking in to a business adventure. I know you are bored and are always looking for something to do. Ha Ha. Very cool though.

Too funny about CB’s story about the “one that got away”. Ice fishing does not sound fun to me either. I always think of the movie Grumpy Old Men when I think of ice fishing.

Have a nice time on your trip. Wave as you fly over me.

Marty had fun on his snow shoeing trip today. The brat pulled in to the jewelry store I go to and took a picture of it. His sister sent it to me. They are going to Fogo De Chao got supper.

I had a busy day. I washed sheets and towels then started on our laundry. I went to the grocery store, the florist, stopped for lunch and then went back to the florist, took a carnation sundae to the cemetery, went to the mall and came home and worked on more laundry.

The florist has a very cute teddy bear I almost bought but I resisted. I may go back though.

I am leaning towards a RB for my solitaire pendant instead of a pear. I’ll get more sparkle that way. No one at the mall had a ¾ carat solitaire pendant for me to try on. One of the jewelers took a ¾ carat earring and put it on a chain for me to try on. All 3 stores believe I’ll be back to order a diamond from them. I took my UV light with me and had fun in one store looking at their fluorescent diamonds. One was very strong and looked fabulous under the UV light.

I ran in to my sister and BIL at the mall. The sister who talks forever on the phone so she and I sat down and talked for about an hour. That was way better than talking on the phone.

I ran my dirty car through a car wash; it looks better but no completely clean.

Wind is still bad here today. It probably won’t die down until it gets cold and the snow comes back.

Have a fabulous day.

Happy Sunday kids!

Posting on my phone so this will be super short, but just wanted to say the video is CRAZY Curby! It's a miracle no one was hurt.

Having a good time in Aspen! My friend just left to go skiing and I'm going to go engage in a little light shopping. Then we'll meet up for lunch. This lifestyle is fun for a little while but after a few days I start to go mad, ha ha.

Curby, I forgot to say, I have a pendant idea for you. I've got a round stone in a teardrop shaped setting. It's kind of a combination of the things you're thinking of. Unfortunately I can't find a pic of it right now (I know I have posted it though) so I'll snap one when I get home on Tuesday for you.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, it is a miracle no one was hurt in that video. Maybe you’ll see some celebrities while you are in Aspen. Did you have fun shopping? I would like to see your pendant; that is something I’ve been thinking about. I have a 1/4 carat in a teardrop mounting and really like it but I would like a larger (and nicer) diamond in it. A solitaire would be okay too.

I stayed up until after midnight looking at diamonds then got up at 6:30 to get a roast going in the crockpot. I tried to go back to sleep but drifted in and out of snoozeville for a few hours.

That roast is smelling quite tasty right now. The roast was almost 5 pounds so I had to shove the baked potatoes in where I could on the edges.

Marty got home about 11:30 and is napping on the couch.

Not much exciting going on here today. I ran out to see about getting some Asti Spumante for Valentine’s Day but the neighborhood liquor store didn’t have any. I picked up Asti sparkling wine yesterday but that isn’t what I wanted. While I was out I swung by the florist again and bought the teddy bear I liked yesterday. He’s got a spot right by the TV.

Have a great day!

Happy Monday kids!

Curby, I probably wouldn't know a celebrity if they sat down beside me at the bar, LOL. I once had a long conversation with Paul McCartney's wife Heather... something? Afterward my friend had to tell me who I had just talked to!

Yesterday I did a bit of walking around the town and then I met my friend for lunch. No shopping success as yet, but I've still got today! My first stop is going to be at the Artist Collective, where they have stuff made by local people. I always enjoy seeing the things in there. I'm also going to go by the cool furniture store in town. I don't think I need any more furniture at this point but I'm always idea shopping!

SHARON, Skippy was going to reach out through the daisy chain to DS. One other idea though, can you ask whose emails Deb has? I am connected to quite a few people so that should result in success!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I probably wouldn’t recognize a celebrity either. I am more impressed by astronomers and scientists anyway. That is funny you had a conversation with Paul McCartney’s wife and didn’t know who she was; she was just a person, right?

Did you get any new art or furniture today? You know small things you can pack in your suitcase to take home. That’s always my luck anyway.

How is Skippy doing?

Not much going on with me today. I went to work and printed out reports for 6 days instead of 3 days so I looked at everything through Saturday. Woo hoo! I’m ahead of the game this week.

Tomorrow will be a bit chaotic at work anyway; they are having 2 open Q&A sessions about our company change that will be broadcast from another facility. I am sure it will generate more questions than it answers. I set both broadcasts to record so I can listen to them at my leisure.

We had leftover roast beef for supper. I heated it up in the oven at about 250 degrees so it worked well then made some mashed potatoes and gravy. Marty brewed up a big salad.

Marty had the crud so he doesn’t feel well today. I told him that is what happens when he mixes with all the germs out in the world. Around the house he is exposed to me and some assorted stuffed animals.

I almost emailed WF today about a few diamonds. BG has a signature blue that has very strong fluorescence that seems about $1000 less than other ¾ carat signature blues. It makes me wonder what’s wrong with it. It is an I; I think that would face up with in a .71 carat size but worry the very strong blue might look too different from my ering diamond. I can go with that place in Denver because it will be very easy to upgrade if I want a larger sized diamond eventually but knowing me I will think it’s not as nice as my ACA.

I got the estimate on my yellow sapphire dangles and he said it would cost about $600. I was hopping more in the $500 region but agreed to the price. That is almost $400 less than the other place. I could have opted for studs but I have so few dangle earrings I like I thought I may as well go for them.

Have a great evening and a wonderful week. :wavey:

Happy Valentines Day Ladies!

A very quick flyby. Our next door neighbor is over, as he was alone today and wanted to have some company.

Charlie and I had Lobsters for dinner. So So So Good!

lobster_v-day.jpg

I'll write more tomorrow night, but wanted to wish you a nice V-Day!

Hi Kids!

Rod, your dinner looks great. I think our granite counter tops are the same or very close. Too funny.

We had a quiet evening. Marty is sick so slept most of the day. I picked up tacos for supper on the way home.

I got 2 more Snoopy charms for my Valentine's present. I am enjoying the charms but it sure feels clunky on my wrist. As it fills up it isn't as bad though.

Have a fabulous evening.
Marcy

Phooey. My jeweler called me. He said my yellow sapphires are heated treated and have a coating on them to enhance color. The first one he was trying to mount changed colors. I told him to stop what he's doing and I'll pay him for what he's done already. Aargh. He said most heat treated sapphires are fine and can take heat but these sure couldn't. I am checking my receipt tonight. The jeweler said he checked their website and yes they say their sapphires are heat treated but nothing about being unable to take heat.

Writing to you from my couch today kids...

The strangest thing happened. I took my phone to the Sprint store about 11:30 because it's reached the point that I have to turn it off and back on to get it to respond AT ALL. While it was being worked on within 30 minutes I felt worse than I've ever felt in my life. Like the flu, but it came upon so fast I didn't know what hit me. I couldn't even go back to my office (two blocks away) to get my keys so thank god I have a lockbox hidden on the property with an extra key. I just woke up after sleeping for several hours and now I feel like I've been beaten, but at least I don't think I'm going to die any more. (Let's hope I don't get proven wrong on that!)

Rod, your lobsters look AMAZING. I swear, they are like some sort of mythical sea creature they are so big!

Curby, that is a total bummer about the sapphires. I mean, how did they imagine the stones could be set if they heat treatment was unstable...? I hope this gets resolved for you quickly and painlessly.

OK, the CB is on his way home with chicken soup since I'll I've had today is ginger ale and crackers. Ugh. This is The Pits!

Marcy, that's a shame about the sapphires. I think I'd be returning them. Loose stones aren't of much value not set in something. It's virtually impossible to set them without heat. They shouldn't change color when heated.

DeeJay, I'm so sorry to see you got sick so quickly. The flu does come on fast. That's why people who get the flu feel like they got hit with a ton of bricks all of the sudden. I hope it's just a short lived bug and you're feeling better soon. Chicken soup is the perfect thing when you're sick. Make sure you stay hydrated. And get lots of rest. Plus don't go to work even tomorrow, even if you're feeling better. You could be contagious.

So, not much to report here. We thought we were finally going to get a tax refund, but noooooooo, we owe taxes again. Work has been up and down and down and up. Such is the life of a recruiter.

Tomorrow is Friday Eve at least!
