Healthy Living Thread

Rats I lost my post. My bad.

Hi everyone!

Dee Jay, I am glad you had a great time in Maui. Then again, how could you not? I am about ready to have the movers pack for us but we are at least over 1/2 packed if not more.

Sharon, I so agree. Christmas doesn't seem like a good time to be packing and moving. However, it will be a memorable Christmas for us. I think I'll get a big bow for the front door. I hope we get things taken care of enough we can put up our skinny Christmas tree. We have one with lights already that is 2 or 3 pieces. We could at least set it up.

My dad was mostly uneventful. I spent time on the phone and exchanging emails trying to get a bug fixed in our software program. It was requested by another department that uses the same program but creates problems for us. Of course they don't understand why it gives us problems so I kept trying to explain it to everyone. So far - not much progress.

I met a friend for lunch. We both rounded up some purses to give my realtor for a local charity program for Christmas so we ate and dashed over to that lady's office to turn the purses in. I stopped and put in a change of address for the club's checking account.

Marty had a long day in Rio. It is near 100 there. Their meetings are not going great and then they waited 2 1/2 hours to get a ride back to their hotel. Taxis kept saying they'd be there but never show up. They finally called the hotel they are staying at who send a car. They have that guy's card so hopefully they won't have issues getting back to the hotel tomorrow. Another vendor is taking them to dinner tomorrow night and is providing them a car. I was going to make up some PDF to send him "Stranded in Brazil". Ha Ha.

Food was bad today - mostly because I had a whole can of Coke and an entire candy bar. Meals were normal though. I cooked a steak for supper and saved half of it for tomorrow.

During lunch tomorrow I am going to go open a P.O. box for the club.

Take care.
Marcy

Good evening all. Quick post. It took nearly 4 hours to get home this evening. There was a massive gas line explosion about 10 miles north of town which destroyed homes and demolished all lanes of a section of a major interstate. Miraculously no fatalities. Traffic was detoured 15 miles west, which is the interstate I take home. It is already overcrowded without all the extra traffic so there were wrecks everywhere. While we were stuck, Matt made the point that we will make it home tonight while there were several families who lost everything. Perspective. That interstate will be closed for a few while they make emergency repairs. The strangest things happen around here. We picked up dinner from a pizza place near our house. We were able to walk a few miles this evening. It felt so good after being cramped in the car for so many hours!

Sharon-I'm old, but I'm tired of the long commute. I can't take it for the 13 years I have until retirement!

Dee*Jay-5 pounds doesn't sound bad for such an awesome vacation. I'm glad you had a great time. I'll hop back on that wagon with you... We should be ready in a month or so to seriously look at houses. If that house is still for sale, we'll definitely make an offer! The people who had it built decided to downsize and built another house across the street. It has been vacant and for sale for nearly a year. They took it off the market for a few months and just put it back up with a much reduced price. Houses in that price range don't sell very quickly around here, so maybe that will help us.

Marcy-poor Marty-warm weather, ocean...how terrible! I sure he'd much rather be home helping you pack. You will definitely have a memorable Christmas this year. I like the idea of a big bow on the door. What a nice gift!

Have a great evening. I'm off to bed.

Deegee, I saw the story about that explosion on TV tonight. They said the area is still evacuated because they are worried about another explosion. How awful but it sounds like there are no fatalities still. Matt is right about perspective. How awful for those people who lost everything. I bet it felt great to get out for a walk tonight. I was eyeballing the greenway behind our new place the other day. I can see myself on it very soon. Marty definitely has a nice view from his room but his trip there has been frustrating. I am sure he'd rather be here packing. Hopefully that house will still be on the market when you are ready to make an offer.

Well I think I'll try to get to bed early. I hope that doesn't create a disturbance in the force. It is pretty abnormal.

Happy Wednesday kids!

Sharon, I’m not really a pina colada person (blasphemy, I know!), but I had my share of mai tais!!!!

Marcy, having spent a lot of time in South America, including Brazil, I’m not surprised the driver didn’t show up. They take “manana” to a whole new level down there, even when you think you’re in a business setting.

Deegee, 4 hours – yikes! I am excited to hear how your house hunting goes along when the time comes. As a real estate agent mostly out of the business at the moment I am living vicariously through you.

I took my last final and got home early last night. I should have printed labels for my holiday cards, but I couldn’t find the ones I took home last week so I’ll have to get more today. Going to the gym after work, and I’m actually looking forward to it! Scale gave me 1.2 lbs off from yesterday, but I really doubt that's true... !

Hi everyone! :wavey:

Dee Jay, now the song "If you like Pina Coladas" is going off in my head. It's better than the normal voices in there. I bet you are delighted to be done with classes for awhile. When does your next round start? Woo hoo to a good report on the scale.

Marty and his other traveling businessmen were going to make one of the local guys pick them up and drop them off at a mall where they could get a cab. He said today was disorganized but went better than yesterday.

I spent about an hour in line at the Post Office today. I got the P.O. Box for the club. Now I need to make sure I get our name and address taken out of the phone book and I'll be impossible for someone to find; unless I give them the address that is. Yippee!!!

It warmed up here again but was still breezy. It's been so windy for about 4 days that this morning when I couldn't hear any wind it was quite weird. Nothing banging or whistling outside?

Food today was: Cheerios, yogurt, 2 pieces of leftover pizza, raw veggies, the rest of my steak and a baked potato. I just had a dish of slow churned ice - as much as I could cream in my little dish.

Well, take care.
Marcy

Happy Thursday kids!

Marcy, I saved myself a trip to the Post Office today when it occurred to me that CVS might carry stamps, so I ran over this morning and now I've got them! Unfortunately they didn't have any Christmas ones left, but that's a small price to pay not to have to stand in a long line. I also had this illusion last night that I could do the whole card thing (update address list, write out small messages, stuff the envelopes, stick on labels and stamps and -- VOILA!) before I went to bed... um... NO. I got the address list updated for the most part, and I printed the labels (with a few exceptions that I need to dig out addresses for), but by the time I got done with that I was EXHAUSTED. So now my plan is to do the rest in the airport and on the plane on Friday on the way to Chicago. Since I'm not in school I don't have anything else to do during that time so I can at least be productive.

Went to the gym last night and did my regular workout, but I wasn't very into it. Oh well, calories burned are calories burned, whether you're groovin' it or not! And I'll go tonight too, then home to pack. I'm supposed to pick up Billy Ray tomorrow morning but I haven't gotten confirmation yet from the dealer that he's ready. Seriously, I am so unimpressed by this dealer. Sad.

OK, off to do a whole pile of stuff!

ETA - Marcy, your card will be coming to your old address since I don't have your new one. Sorry!

Greetings! :wavey:

Dee Jay, it is amazing how long Christmas cards take to get ready. I wrote notes in about 1/4 of mine so I got them done in about 3 nights. I should get your card at our current address no problem (Thanks :appl: ) and I'll have your address then and can send your card along with my new address. The address I had for you was your old one. Are you in Chicago through the holidays? I hope they get junior ready for you tomorrow. The closest Audi dealer is 50 miles and we aren't very impressed with them. Mercedes really peaked our interest when they said they'd drive all the way up from Denver to get our car for service (leaving us a loaner) and then return our car for no charge. I am sure we'll take a look at them when our warranty is about to run out. Have a safe trip tomorrow.

Marty is on his way back from Brazil. I guess they had a downpour today so some of the roads were closed. He didn't think he'd make it to the airport but one of the local guys got them there in time. The plane using the gate before them was delayed so they ended up taking off an hour late. His layover in Houston is now just over an hour but he shouldn't have problems making that connecting flight. Keep your eyes and fingers crossed that his diesel will start in Denver tomorrow.

I started working on performance appraisals at work today. They aren't really due until late January but since I am off work from the 20th through the 30th I thought I better get them mostly done before I leave. I know my boss and his boss will want to review them long before they are due. I think I'll spend my next few days at work doing them. I don't have any hard ones to write this year.

I went out to run errands at lunch. I picked up some Visa gift cards for my employees for Christmas. I stopped at Kmart and ran then picked up a sandwich.

Tomorrow is our walk through. We got an email from the contractor wanting to know if we had our closing times set up for next week. She copied our realtor. So my question was naturally - who sets the appointments? Amazingly the realtor called me within 5 minutes and asked me if I'd like her to set them up. I said "yes please". She said "I'll call you right back". I haven't heard from her since. We did email the guy we've been talking to at the lender so hopefully he'll get them lined up. The earlier the better. If we can get out of there early afternoon we can maybe get our bed and mattress delivered that day.

I cleaned bathrooms tonight and did a batch of laundry plus washed towels. That is probably the last time I'll clean this house. We are having a lady clean it when we move out. We have a week after closing to get out of here.

Have a great Friday.
Marcy

Happy Friday kids!

Marcy, if you find a dealer that you like, stick with them! I have to say I’m more impressed with the service side of things than I am with the sales side of things for this dealer, but my sales guy said I was a “tough customer” so maybe I just expect too much… Did Marty get back from his trip without any further incident? And I get SO DAMN MAD every time I hear about the antics of your real estate agent. I’m really sorry that I’m not licensed in your state because I would gladly represent you. Let us know how the walk through goes – I’m so excited for you!!!

Last night I went to the gym and then packed and got everything ready for this weekend’s trip. This morning I picked up Billy Ray from the dealer and took the looooooong way home. There are really only about two other people on my floor today. I should have brought my holiday cards in from the car and gotten a head start on them!

Hi everyone.

Dee Jay, the price you paid for junior they should be brining you breakfast. Service means a lot. Marty got home about 10 this morning. He was excited since he got upgraded to first class from Houston to Denver. Hey our real estate agent did call to say she was sorry she missed our walk through. She asked how it went and said she would see us at closing. Oh and the lender had to tell us the closing time since she never called me back on that. Grr. I bet you had fun driving Billy Ray the long way home.

Work was painfully slow today. I wanted to be home when Marty got home and was anxious for the walk through. We got there early and the guy was already there to meet us. He walked us around both outside and inside. They pretty much have everything done. The house overall looks great. They have some cosmetic things to fix and the bathroom light fixtures are not in but everything else is done. It looked better than I imagined. We are both very excited. One screen needs installed, 2 sections of fence need put in but mostly it's done. Sweet.

We went to have a drink which turned in to far too much wine for me. We went for supper and I had half of a steak and mashed potatoes. I came home and baked candy cane Christmas cookies. They were far too much work for a person who drank 3 big glasses of wine. But they turned out okay. We are having the family Christmas tomorrow so in had to make at least one batch of cookies.

Take care. Have a great weekend.
Marcy

Happy Saturday!

I made Marty eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast. I had a cheese, toast and bacon sandwich. We met my family for lunch at a Mexican restaurant; it was our family Christmas. There were 16 of us and it was a little rough at first - the room I wanted they set up for 12. They had a long table for 16 set up in the bigger dining area and ended up setting 12 people at it. The waitress claims I told her we had 12 coming. My dad was grumpy because he thought it was too crowded but eventually we got some tables all put together and we could mostly set together. A few of us took in Christmas cookies and we visited for over 2 hours so I guess it worked. The kids got presents.

After lunch the bunch from Colorado followed us out to our house so we could show it to them. Then Marty and I went and had a glass of wine and a cheese platter for supper. After our tasty supper we wandered around Lowes and Home Depot looking at gas grills, screen doors and other assorted things. Tonight we just goofed off ignoring that annoying fact that we have to pack. Maybe we will work on it tomorrow.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Marcy

You ladies are so good with your Christmas cards. I didn't send a single card this year. I didn't put up many decorations and I haven't wrapped a single thing! There are a bunch of Amazon boxes under my tree though! Very festive.

Dee*Jay-when we moved to WV and I decided not to continue teaching, I very seriously considered real estate. I decided nights and weekends were too precious to me and didn't pursue it. It's too bad you're not impressed with the dealer. I agree with Marcy-they should be bringing you breakfast! My dealer is pretty good, except the service sales manager always comes into the customer lounge to try to sell me accessories while I'm waiting for my car to be serviced. I was not in a great mood last time and they may have noted in my file that I do not like to be "sold" to.

Marcy-I love your fireplace. I really like the colors you picked out for everything. Very modern. I hate to think your realtor will make any money from the sale though. She has really dropped the ball on everything! Gosh-everything wraps up this week, right? Ooohhhh!!! Good thing you're off for a few weeks to get everything unpacked and ready.

Matt and I went to see the Nutcracker last night. We didn't go so much for the ballet, but wanted to hear the symphony perform the music. We enjoyed the whole thing, ballet and all. Matt's Christmas party was Thursday. The food was excellent and the wine was very good. I always dread that party because it is at the swanky Country Club in town and I always fret about buying an expensive outfit that I will wear one time. Grr. And me, heels and wine is a recipe for disaster! We're about to brave a trip to the mall to finish shopping for Matt's side of the family. Wish us luck! Have a great day.

Hi. Is it only 3:30? What a long day. I am looking forward to work tomorrow - it will be less work.

Deegee, yes this is the big week for us. Thursday morning at 10:30 MT we begin the process of selling this house and buying the new one. I have one package under our 2 foot fiber optics tree. It is for the killer rabbit from my teddy bears. Marty makes fun of the teddy bears being sissies since they have on hats, scarfs and booties. So a friend at work found a little hat and scarf for the killer rabbit. I don’t blame you for not wanting to be sold to while you are waiting for service on your car. We usually take a car for test drive while we are waiting. They seem to be less and less willing to do that though. If the salesman we buy from is there though he is fine with it. That is terrific you enjoyed the Nutcracker last night. We go to shows at our civic center now and then. How was shopping at the mall? I bet it was crazy busy. I was going to run out to the store today but I am worn out already so I doubt I’ll venture out today. Thanks for liking the colors we picked; we went very neutral with mostly brown tones.

We got up about 7. I made pancakes and made Marty some bacon. We started packing then. About 4 hours later I needed Advil and food. We ordered pizza. I started to watch football and work on laundry then. I think I packing binge is mostly over for the day. The kitchen still needs cleaned out a bit but we went through everything else.

I think I’ll go read for awhile.

Marcy

Hey kids.

Marcy, I’m so excited for you this week! Your fireplace looks great, and I’m glad they have pretty much everything done for you. Are you completely packed? I am always still throwing stuff in boxes when the movers show up. I love that the killer rabbit and teddy bears have clothes. Bill and I have a stuffed pig named POG that has a bigger wardrobe than either of us!

Deegee, if anyone had the bright idea to try to sell me more stuff while I was waiting for my car they should really call the paramedics before approaching me. It will save someone from having to make the call later. So far I’ve realized they charged me $260 to replace the center caps on my wheels last week, which were included in my deal and I called and had those taken off my invoice, and they charged me $3,149 for the radar detector that was quoted to me at $2,895. They are “looking into that.” They are welcome to look all they want, but I highly suggest they do not d!ck around with me because I’m out of good mood points with these people.

Sooooo tired this morning… Getting home and midnight from a trip and then going to work the next morning is just killer… I am even considering not got going to the gym tonight because I still have 90 holiday cards to send out and I’ve been battling either a sinus headache or the beginning of a migraine since Saturday. Ug.

Hi!

Dee Jay, I am pretty excited for this week myself. We seem to have a lot of packing still left. The kitchen has quite a bit still. Boo. The lady is coming by tomorrow for the walkthrough of our place. I am all nervous about that but we did everything that was on her list. I hope she is just coming to make sure we haven’t trashed the place. After that hurdle I’ll just be nervous till we close. POG sounds fun. Marty keeps telling me the bears are sissies since they have to wear a hat, scarfs and booties. That really stinks about the extra charge on junior. Grr. Go get ‘em! You did have a very short night. I hope you are feeling better now or asleep already.

Snow is on the way! Oh nooooooo!!! Wait maybe we’ll have a white Christmas. That would be nice.

Work was okay today. One of my employees called in sick so we were all pretty busy making the day zip by. I took in leftover pizza for lunch and ran to the grocery store during my lunch hour to get a few things. I dropped them off at the house and stopped to get gas on the way back to work. It was definitely windy out there and my hair looked like Jan Brady out of the movie when I got back to work. D’oh! Marty cooked steak on the grill and we had rice and veggies with it.

The doorbell ran about 7 and UPS delivered a box of assorted Godiva chocolates. Yes, I tried 2 of them. A dark chocolate covered cherry and some kind of chocolate liquor caramel. They were both divine. I hope Marty eats the rest of them while I am at work tomorrow.

Take care!
Marcy

Morning kids!

Marcy, don’t worry, I’m sure you are Marty are the LEAST of this lady’s problems! Still waiting to hear about the extra charge on Junior, but they WILL make it right. I drove this morning with the radar detector for the first time. I really need to read the manual because it went off about every 10 seconds, and I know there weren’t that many cops out. I am sure it is false alarming, but I will have to go through and figure out what’s going on. And what pure evilness is this -- to have chocolates delivered right to your house?!? Who ever sent those needs a talking to (and make sure they have MY address too! :cheeky: ).

Last night it was all I could do to finish the cards (now 152 of them in the mail!) before falling into bed. I desperately wanted *just*one*little*100*calorie*pack* of cookies, but I didn’t let myself do it, especially since I didn’t work out yesterday. No workout today either because I’m going out after work. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. And speaking of tomorrow, I also need to clean up my apartment in a big big way because I have a friend coming to stay on Thursday and Friday night I’ve got dust bunnies right now that would rival the killer rabbit! I actually got up about 5 am to pee and when I went back to bed I had a long involved dream about vacuuming my place. There was all that white popcorn packing stuff everywhere, including stuck on the walls and ceiling with static electricity, and I was going crazy trying to get it all!

HI:

DeeJay--when we were looking at the Porsche SUV's and Range Rovers, we were NOT surprised of the >50K you can add in options. Our friend needed to replace a "widget" on his Ferrari---2k. Gotta love Jr. a lot!

Actually got tot he pool and gym today. Wow, good to see my old friend again. I will not work again until the NY and that is a relief. Need some downtime with all that has gone on around here (stress). My neck and shoulders ache ache ache. Celebrex here I come.

Hope everyone is well.

cheers--Shaorn

Hi everyone!

Dee Jay, thanks for the Christmas card. It arrived today. Yours will be on the way soon. Your radar detector sounds paranoid. Marty needs one of those. He got a ticket a few weeks ago. That is his second this year. There goes our insurance. I know isn’t that rude to send us a big box of chocolates and not send one to you. I had one after doing this dishes tonight. We finished the box of chocolate cordials first (it’s not that bad it only had 4 in there). It figures we’d go for the alcohol ones first. Too funny about having dust bunnies that could rival the Killer Rabbit. Marty has him chewing on one of my teddy bears right now. Marty keeps trying to pack my teddy bears but I won’t let him. He’ll mark them as “trash”. Have fun with your company this weekend.

Sharon, I hope you relax and your neck and shoulders feel better. I bet some of your favorite red wine would help.

Our house passed the walk through. The lady from the contractor showed up (without her paperwork) so Marty had to find our copy. She walked around and looked at a few things. She had him put a nail in one piece of siding out back and that was it. She was only her about 15 minutes. Yippee. Now we just need to close on both houses and we will start moving. We are getting $10.00 more on the purchase of our home for our appliances. Woo hoo!

Work seemed long today. I spent a few hours this afternoon working on performance appraisals. I gave my employees their Christmas cards and gift cards. One of them is out tomorrow so I wanted to give them to everyone at the same time. I wrote them all a little note too.

Marty had new and thicker wires put in his braces today so he had soft food for supper. I picked up 2 tacos on the way home for my supper. We both had some slow churned ice cream for dessert.

Marty got our names put on the utilities at the new place starting Thursday. We will have 7 days to get out of our house but hopefully we can turn the keys over to them on the 24th.

They are expecting 3 to 6 inches of snow tonight. I might get to test my tires tomorrow.

Take care.
Marcy

Ladies-I am so proud of myself. I made a major dent in wrapping presents tonight. I need to pick up some more ribbon tomorrow and then I can finish up. Woo-freaking-hoo! No more unwrapped Amazon shipping boxes under the tree! Still no Christmas cards though. Those are out this year. Dee*Jay, I have to say I'm impressed with your card count! Work is incredibly super busy. I want to run away, screaming. That just may happen by Friday!! I have a ton of stuff to get finished by Friday because I'm taking off until January 2. I can't get anything done because things seem to keep coming that take priority over what I was trying to get finished. I had planned to shut my door in the morning and then I remembered I have a meeting first thing. Ahhhh!!! When I get stressed, I get sick to my stomach so food was really good today. Cottage cheese for breakfast, a bowl of soup for lunch, and half a serving of spaghetti for dinner.

Dee*Jay-I think car dealers think women are suckers. I went car shopping by myself one day, and ended up telling a dealer that I hoped he thought I was an uninformed customer rather than a dumb woman with regards to the pathetic deal and accompanying blah blah blah that went with it. He tried blah blah blazing again, and I laughed and left. He sent me an apology card. Ha! Like I ever stepped foot in that dealership again. I hope your overcharge issue gets resolved quickly. And surely you haven't lived in your place long enough to have massive dust bunnies! Our IT guy once told me that he'd never seen dust bunnies like the ones behind my monitor at work, and now im paranoid every time he stops by my office. 152 cards? Seriously? You're just trying to make me look REAL bad with my count of zero.

Sharon-I hope you can relax and get the tension out of your neck and shoulders. I'm so looking forward to time off so I can relax. Hopefully.

Marcy-glad your house passed! Sounds like your place was in great shape. I love the neutrals you picked. Definitely my kind of colors. Too funny your bears got the killers rabbit a gift! He'll fit right in with the bears. The sales manager at the Acura dealership always comes into the customer lounge with an accessories book. He has tried to sell me running boards 3 times. The last time I told him (and I made sure he knew it was the 3rd time I told him this) that I bought my car off the showroom floor. It was parked by the Christmas tree, it was loaded, and they had added extra accessories. I'm tall, so running boards are nothing but shin busters for me. I took delivery of my car a day late just so they could remove the running boards they had installed. I told him to note my account that I do not want running boards, and I do not want to be sold to. Car dealers bring out the worst in me. I'm finished with my performance evaluations. I met with my employees yesterday and today, so woo-hoo! One thing off my list! Good luck with yours!

Have a great day tomorrow!

Deegee, woo hoo for getting a bunch of packages wrapped! I have a ton of bows and ribbons - stop on by and get them. A few less things to move. Sweet. Sorry to hear things are so busy and stressful at work. I am the complete opposite of you in dealing with stress - I am a stress eater. It sounds like you did great with food today. I hope the rest of the week goes smoothly for you. I was delighted and relieved to hear our house passed. Marty wasn’t even slightly worried about it. Our house is clean, not trashed, a lot of it has been upgraded and will have no problems selling so I shouldn’t be so paranoid. One of my employees made me an ornament with a killer rabbit on it. I’ll have to post a picture of it; it really turned out amazing. The KR is about 3/4 of an inch, has ears and 2 fangs and is in the center of some holy leaves. My employees are amused and encourage me with rabbit and teddy bear ideas. I would get irritated too if the sales manager kept coming to me and trying to sell me things while my car is being serviced. I can’t wait to engage in a conversation with them about Mercedes offering to come get our car when it needs service. I bet they leave me alone QUICKLY. Ha!

We have at least 5 inches of snow out there. Tomorrow’s high is 18 with wind chill taking it down to about 2. I might have to cry and wine in the morning for Marty to take me to work. He is really busy with work. Since he was in Brazil last week he didn’t get his everyday work done and now with him going on vacation for a week and a half he wants to get everything done that he can. He worked until 9:30 tonight.

I have been reading the latest Michael Connelly novel so read quite a bit tonight. I felt guilty knowing I should be packing something but continued to read anyway.

My mom seems to be more alert for 2 days now. Last night she actually called me and talked for about 20 minutes. Tonight when I called her she talked quite a bit. She said she even felt good enough to cook a real dinner instead of just microwaving frozen dinners. That is amazing. My dad talked her in to drinking ensure every day. She is getting out of cars and chairs better than before - slowly but better. Deegee do they have your dad’s surgery scheduled yet?

Well, I have time to read one more chapter before bedtime.

Laters,
Marcy

The ornament and a cute photo.

I will certainly be able to test my tires today. Ugh.

Marcy, your post made me LOL, even though I know that's not what you meant! It's all I can do EVERY morning to keep from *WINE-ING* to get myself to go to work! I'm with Marty BTW; there was never a doubt in my mind that your house would pass the walk-through. Like I said, you guys are not the type of people that need to be worried about. Love the ornament... don't love the snow! Glad to hear your mom is doing better.

Sharon, a few weeks ago I got lost and drove past the dealership on my way to a mall. I said, "Oh sh!t--I'm sure they're going to charge me a couple hundred bucks just for being within 1 mile of this place!" I did go to dinner last night with a guy that has a GT3 RS and my only consolation is that whatever something costs on Jr. it costs about 2 times that on his car!

Deegee, this place that I'm in is exceptionally dusty! Not just the bunnies, but every surface has a fine film of dust on it all the damn time. Maybe it's the heating/cooling system blowing stuff out? Whatever it is, I'm constantly annoyed by it. I even put the brush attachment on the vacuum last night and went over all the baseboards. In all the years I lived in my last place I don't think I ever did that one time! Don't feel bad about the Christmas cards, I've now sent 160+ (I keep remembering people... ) but I've only gotten 3, and one of them was from the doorman in my building and was just slipped under my apartment door. I typically get 30-50, depending on the year, but having moved to the heartland this year (and not many people knowing that) has definitely had an impact. I have a vision of opening my mailbox in mid January and being killed by the avalanche of forwarded cards.

Nothing exciting to report on the healthy living front... ! I was bad yesterday (although not SUPER bad, but I did have two pieces of candy out of a box on the secretary's desk, and I had short ribs with orzo for dinner). I'm trying to tell myself that the cleaning made up for the missed workout, but it's back to the gym for me tonight! And the scale is being exceptionally kind--my lowest number yet, and I even got off and back on to give it a chance to stop lying to me. I'm sure I'll be repaid in spades tomorrow with some shocking figure!

HI:

Marcy--congrats on the house passing--but not on the snow. Bug yuk. I saw that picture of the "husky" on FB.....

DeeJay--my son's Acura is in for servicing--luckily no surprises witht $2k bolts for his car!!! I laughed about your joke about being charged for being within arms reach of the dealership. hahhahahaa

Deegee--I hope you are able to relax over the holidays also. This is the same shoulder neck/pain I had when I was writing my thesis--hunched over the computer for months.....it just doesn't want to go away...and wine does NOT help unfortunately!

Think I'll go and make shortbread and better tarts. If someone could use that rolling pin on my muscles it might help! That or hit me on the head with it!

cheers--Shaorn

Hi everyone. :wavey:

Dee Jay, too funny that the dealer will probably charge you for driving within a mile of them. Maybe that is your extra charge. I hope all your Christmas cards do show up soon. I will try to get mine mailed tomorrow. I didn’t feel like running to the post office this morning for some weird reason. Stupid snow. Congratulations for the scale being so kind to you. :appl: I can actually see you getting off the scale and getting back on to make sure it wasn’t tricking you.

Sharon, I hope the snow we got doesn’t head your way. It has moved on already and really dumped a lot around here. Some of the mountains in Colorado got over 2 feet. I got a chuckle out of the cute little Husky.

Too funny my snow picture posted upside down. Silly iPhone. Wow did we get snow! The roads were horrid going to work. My tires were a definite improvement over the previous tires but the car definitely was not as sticky as my 2005 car. This car is a bit lower; I wonder if that is what makes the difference. I was never out of control of the car on ice but I could feel it give a little. It didn’t have any problems in snow drifts though. They are calling for blizzard conditions tomorrow from wind and cold not new snow. Weird, huh?

Work was painfully slow today. I had 2 people out so at least I was busy. We have been packing for a few hours tonight. Marty didn’t like how our snow shovelers shoveled the front and we never have them shovel the back so he was out shoveling for quite a while. He was not a happy camper when I got home. He went to Lowes and picked up some things to put down on our carpet and floor both here and the new house since there is so much snow around and the new place will be muddy since there is no grass.

Marty is packing his office right now. We are running out of decent boxes so I packed pillows, clothes and hangers in big, heavy duty trash bags.

Well off to unpack the dishwasher. We are packing the kitchen tonight.

Tomorrow is closing at 10:30. The lender “said” we’d get our final numbers today and we didn’t. I hope that doesn’t mean anything other than they forgot. I wonder if our realtor will show for closing?

Take care!
Marcy

Morning kids!

Sharon, Shortbread and butter tarts… oh my… I think I put on 3 lbs just reading that! Do you put anything in them (like fruit)? And there’s something to be said for a car with no surprises. At the time I was thinking I would just trade my Lexus in on the Cayenne and get that over with too, but honestly I’m kind of happy to have a car I don’t care that much about and that is just “solid.”

Marcy, I hope you have a smooth and easy closing!!! As for your realtor, I bet she does show up because she will want to walk away with the commission check. (Actually, I’m not sure how it work in your state, so maybe the $ is handled differently. In Illinois you walk away from the closing table with $.) Will the snow affect your move? And I got five forwarded cards in my mailbox last night, so there is hope yet for humanity!

We got a little snow last night, but the bigger problem is that they didn’t salt ahead of time and now the roads are solid ice. Of course no one here can drive in these conditions. I put the Lexus in 4WD and just powered up the street to my office. Ironically, the snow plow truck was stuck on a hill about mid way through my drive. And whoever is in charge of MODOT should be fired. Snow is coming. It’s widely publicized. SALT BEFORE IT HITS. Moron. Another guy in my office who just moved here from Colorado stopped by and was like, “What on earth were they thinking? You don’t wait until everything is already frozen over to get the salt out.”

So of the four of us in my department one woman is off today, one woman called in sick, and I don’t know if my boss is showing up or not (but I think he’s got a long commute, so that may be an issue with this weather). I’m not complaining—I have a project that I’m working on and I hope to make some significant progress with all the quiet!

And yesterday I did make it to the gym… but I had a sub for lunch and ate FOUR pieces of candy throughout the day. I was good when I got home (soup and popcorn) and didn’t end up having an afternoon snack, which is usually a couple hundred calories, so maybe net net it wasn’t TOO bad… My friend from NY flies in this afternoon (hopefully!) and we were going to go out tonight, so all bets are off! And then I’ll be with her and her family until after Christmas, so if I disappear startingthis weekend, that’s where I’ve gone… buried under a mound of Christmas cookies… !

HI:

Marcy--I think Vancouver and the Islands got your snow. That said, our Rockies already have a huge base for the skiiers--more than last yeat at this time and we are supposed to have record snowfalls this year (still). But no new snow here--but the -20 temps are rolling in for the weekend.

Off to get my hair chopped right off. Twiggy, here I come!

cheers--Sharon

Friend's flight canceled, and all other options today/tonight also cancelled. She's on an alternate flight tomorrow morning, but the storm is moving that way. Oh the joys of travel.

Now I have no excuse not to go to the gym tonight... ;(

Sharon, would love to see a pic of your haircut!

Hi! We own our new home. Woo hoo!!!

Dee Jay, too funny about the ice there. My BIL moved from Colorado to Texas for 2 years and they had a sprinkling of snow and he was the only one at work. Our town is an ice skating rink today though with the wind and snow. It's been so warm here the snow melted and then froze. I am glad your 4WD and your frequent prior exposure to ice didn't hinder you from getting to work. Yes, the realtor showed up for closing. She was eager to get her check. I even walked away with a small check too. Yay for making the gym yesterday. I am sure this moving will burn off some calories.

Sharon, that is nice to know the Rockies are getting snow for skiing Colorado was sure glad to get this storm. Do you like your new short hairdo? I need to get a haircut but haven't taken time to get an appointment yet. I like longer hair but this wish I could see my earrings. There is a shocking revelation for someone on PS.

Marty was up by 4. I got up about 6:30. We went out for breakfast and then went to a final walkthrough before closing. The snow drifts in front of our house are something. Since we are the only house on the block it all blew in to the first bump in the road. We got the keys before we even went to closing.

We got there a bit early and about 15 minutes later they tell us the numbers just came in from the lender. We had to wait about 40 minutes till she got all the paperwork done but she was really good at her job and did a great job. It took us a little over an hour.

Well the guy is here to shut off our alarm system and then I am heading to the bank and new house.

Laters,
Marcy

CONGRATULATIONS MARCY!!!

I kept checking back hoping you would post after your closing, even though you normally post at night.

Funny about the snow settling at your house. I guess if you're the only thing to stop it, that's where the drifts go!

Keep us posted on your moving progress. If I were there I would gladly stand around with a glass of wine and supervise... :cheeky:
