Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, how is it being back at work? Would you rather be stuck in a jury room or babysitting your problem employees?!

Last night I went back to TR's and finished wrapping really almost everything except a few items that are still in the netherland of shipping hell. I'll go to Fed Ex tonight and unload my car and then my part of this holiday process in terms of heavy labor is done! Bring on the eggnog!

I think I've got TR's cold... ugh. It's not horrible, but it's annoying. And of course this is the week I go and spend 40 hours in 4 four days standing in an art show booth talking to people. #TyphoidDee

OK, off to do a ton of things I seem to just never get around to...

Dee*Jay-that shirt is perfect for you! I’m thinking about ordering a #teamgrinch shirt. Last year for at our Christmas luncheon, my department made me wear a black Santa hat with the words “bah humbug” across the front.

Marcy-how was work? You’re right, your case was sad. The person sounds like the majority of the parents for kids in Matt’s youth group. Almost all of the kids live with a grandmother or other relative. So very sad.

I did fine at work today, but not so good when I got home. I stopped by the party store to get the dipping chocolate. I was very proud of myself for remembering! When I got home, I sat in the floor attempting to teach Lily a new trick. When it was time to get up, my back made a loud pop and I went face down on the rug, dropping and breaking 2 fiesta bowls. I was face down (with Lily wedging between my face and rug so she could lick me) for about 15 minutes trying to let the pain die down. I managed to get myself up and to the couch, but now I can’t move. My back is OUT. The last time this happened, I remember being couch bound for about 3 days. It’s a good thing I ordered that reaching stick Sunday because it came today and I’ve already put it to work. If this doesn’t get better in a few days, I’ll have to go to the dr. This used to happen often after my wreck, so I know what is normal and I have medicine. Anybody want to come & decorate my tree?

Marcy-HILARIOUS!!!! I needed a laugh! I’m glad you posted that.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I guess I'd rather be back at work. Although it took me all day to get my work done; I didn't need retrained just had problems getting organized. People did stop by and talk to me a lot too though.
Did you get everything shipped tonight? :appl:
i hope you get over your cold quickly.

Deegee, that is too bad about the kids in Matt's youth group. Some kids have a pretty tough start to life.
Oh no that your back went out. You poor thing. Rest up and get better. Yes, those grabber sticks are handy. I bought myself one when I picked up one for my dad years ago. I don't try breakable things with it but other than that; I find it handy.

We had some snow last night but not much. I had a hard time getting back in to a routine at work today; it felt like I'd been out of the office for a month. Things went okay when I was gone so that was good news.

Take care.
Curby / Marcy

Marcy-HILARIOUS!!!! I needed a laugh! I’m glad you posted that.

i am glad I gave you a good laugh. I thought it was pretty funny. Get better!

Happy Wednesday kids!

Deegee, last year for x-mas I bought a friend of mine a shirt with Darth Vader on it that say's "I Find Your Lack Of Joy Disturbing." He wears it EVERYWHERE now!

Curby, OMG -- that is too funny! No wonder I'm looking like this! Must stop using shampoo...

Last night I shipped everything off, so it's all in Fed Ex's hands now... I didn't think to take pics of the labels so I have no means to track everything. I'm sure my assistant can look it up though because she did all the labels for me. Brain fart on my part!

After going to Fed Ex TR and I had some Chinese food that wasn't bad but I'm not sure I was really tasting everything properly since my cold has blossomed. We'll have to go back there again once I'm well, ha ha.

This morning I just couldn't seem to get out of the house, and I also stopped at CVS for meds on the way to my office, so I didn't get here until about 9:30. Oops. Now I'm all drugged up and slugging coffee so perhaps I shouldn't make any important legal decisions today!

Happy Thursday kids!

Today is the first day of the art show where i"m helping my cow bag lady friend. And of course my cold is in full bloom. Ugh. If you don't hear back from me you'll know I keeled over dead with a black and white spotted purse in one hand and a credit card reader in the other! :cheeky:

I've also got a seller who is closing today and my plan was to give the keys to the unit to the buyer's agent after the final walk through last night but there was an accident and he couldn't get there with all the traffic so now I have to bolt over to the closing as it gets done and hand those off. Of course that will be the busiest time of the show I'm sure. But what can I do, right?

OK... off to shower and try to make myself presentable...

Hi Kids! it's freaking cold out - 2 degrees.

Dee Jay, that Darth Vadar shirt is great. I can see why your friend wears it all the time.
Woo hoo for getting everything shipped.
I hope your cold is doing better. That stupid non-drowsy cold medicine drops my IQ about 40 points. At least it doesn't turn me in to a cry baby witch like allergy meds do.
I hope the cow bag lady does well at the art show.
Woo hoo to having a client close.

Deegee, I hope you are feeling better.

I have tomorrow off; I like 3 days work weeks. I am starting my Christmas baking in the morning. I swear.
We had about 4 inches of snow last night. It's like winter is almost here.

Take care.

Howdy!

Dee*Jay-I hate to hear you’re sick. That’s miserable! I slept the whole first day at Hilton Head because of cold medicine. Anything non-drowsy knocks me out, and anything nighttime keeps me wide awake!

Marcy-yay for a 3 day work week! I’ve got one of those too this week. I was off with my back Monday, and state government offices were closed Wednesday in respect of former President Bush’s funeral. Wednesday off really helped with my back. Wow Marcy, that IS cold! We had an inch of snow yesterday, and I whined and complained about that!

I’m doing better than I thought I would today. I didn’t even try to do anything yesterday in hopes my back would calm down. I was able to get dressed all by myself today with no help from Matt. Yesterday he had to put on my socks & shoes! Tomorrow night is Matt’s office Christmas party and I really don’t feel like getting all dressed up and going. I will make the effort, and will park myself at a table closest to the door for the evening. I have an excuse NOT to socialize with a bunch of engineers... my back hurts! We got the lights and ribbon on the tree. Mostly Matt did it, and I helped a little with my reaching stick. Wow, I’m feeling really old this Christmas. To give you an idea of how tall the tree is, the top of the mantel is 65 inches from the ground. Have a great Friday!

Happy Friday kids!

Curby, apparently my IQ dropped far more than 40 pts thanks to the cold meds because I sent truly stupid email responses to my boss TWICE yesterday. Oops.

Deegee, your tree looks GREAT! I can tell how yuuuuge it is too -- I love me a bit xmas tree!

So the show went pretty well yesterday in that we sold more than last year on the first day, but my friend was her predictable crazy self and wanted to reorganize the booth about every five minutes.

I had to bolt out in the middle of the afternoon to take keys to the closing, and when I left the show last night I went to my office and finished the paperwork. I could have done it this morning too, but I just wanted it Over With. This is the point in the year when I start to worry about not having anything in my funnel for next year...

I'm going to head to the show early this morning and work on my xmas cards some more. It would be nice to get those in the mail!

Hi Kids!

Deegee, fabulous looking Christmas tree. That is kind of strange colds meds have the opposite effect on you than intended. I usually can't sleep off the nighttime cold meds. I am glad taking Wednesday off helped your back. How are you doing this weekend? I love how tall your tree is. We had a 12 foot fake tree that we gave to one of my employees while still living at our old house. Once we bought a sectional we didn't have room to put it up anymore. Now we have plenty of room but Marty likes our 7 foot slim tree just the way it is. Bummer. Have a nice time at Matt's Christmas party.

Dee Jay, darn that your IQ dropped yesterday; I hate when I send stupid emails and of course it's always to someone important. That's great to hear sales were better than last year. I am sure you'll have plenty to keep you busy next year. i hope the show goes well today. i had one Christmas card returned today; I forgot to put a stamp on it.

I got mini cheesecakes and Christmas M&M cookies made this morning. Woo hoo.
Marty got home about noon. A friend is coming by with a late lunch and to play cards shortly. The street is all icy so i drove my car across the street to get our mail. Bad idea! The stupid sun is shining right on the sensor of the garage door and won't shut now. Grrrr. I swear it didn't do that when we first moved here; I think Marty needs to realign them but of course that's my layperson opinion.

Have a great weekend. I did no miss work today.

Good morning Kids!

Not much going on this morning. I cleaned my dust collectors off the mantel and moved them to the den to collect dust in there for a month. I am putting my Snoopy Christmas Village on the mantel this year. I'm waiting impatiently for Marty to get done with his strength training so he can bring all of our decorations upstairs. I guess I will start on laundry while I wait.

Ever get the feeling someone is watching you take a shower? This is what I found in our closet when I got out of the shower.
upload_2018-12-8_10-51-43.png

We got all of our indoor decorations out. Poor Marty spent about 2 hours trying to get one section of the pre-lit Christmas tree lights working. They are supposed to work even if bulbs are burnt out. He replaced 10 bulbs and all of a sudden the lights came on. Tomorrow we will put the ornaments and star garlands on the tree. My Snoopy Village looks nice on the mantel.

We matched the newest Mission Impossible tonight - it was pretty much constant action but far fetched for sure. I told Marty it's more like Mission Not Likely.

We finally have all of our decorations up. Woo hoo! Marty is making scalloped potatoes for us and grilling steaks for lunch. Mmm. He keeps eating these cheesy scalloped potatoes at Elways at DIA so I told him he has to make some for me. Ha!

Here is a close up of my Snoopy Village and the fireplace

Happy Monday kids!

Deegee, back pain is The Worst. I remember the first time I herniated my disk the CB had to carry me to the bathroom to pee because I literally couldn't get out of bed.

Curby, your decorations look fabulous... and those cookies... :lickout:

Well I survived the show... but it was a tough slog for a few days there! We did only about 3% better than last year, but hey, better is better, right?! Next year we want a corner booth. Part of our problem is the space we had is only 10 x 10 and we put card tables on both sides and in the back, so you basically have 8 x 6. If you get us and more than one person in there it's a CROWD. The corners give us a much better option.

After I got home TR came down and we went to dinner at the Italian place at the end of the block. It was pretty much the first food I'd had in four days that didn't come from the food court.

I'm swamped today, but at least I'm getting something done that needs to be completed so I'm happy about that!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, woo hoo for better sales this year. i agree a corner booth might work better next year.
I am glad you had a nice dinner after eating from the food court for days. I bet it tasted great.
Did you get your task completed today?
Any news or pictures from DK? Huh, huh, huh?

Deegee, did you get snow? I hope you are feeling better this week.

We were in the 40's here today so quite nice for December.
Marty stayed up super late last night playing some game on his PS2. He napped so much yesterday he couldn't fall asleep. I kept waking up wondering when he was coming to bed so I didn't sleep well either. He's pretty worn out tonight.
Cool news for Marty - he wrote our local fire department about offering them a free class on strength training and they called him today to set up something in January. He is all excited.
I warmed up some leftover pizza for supper. Our cleaning lady came today so I didn't want to make a mess in the kitchen. I have no idea what Marty will eat but maybe he'll pick up something from Chipolte on the way home from the gym. He was meeting a client tonight. He took my Porsche too - I sent him a text and called him a Putz.

Take care.

Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, that's great about the fire department taking Marty up on his offer! Who knows where that might lead! And no pics yet... I'm starting to get antsy...

I didn't get 100% done yesterday, but I got pretty much done, so that counts for something. I'll trying to finish it up today. Speaking of finishing things, I need to get done with my x-mas cards. I'm a bout a third of the way finished, so around 40 out of 120 done. TR and I got your card BTW -- too funny! Thank you!!!

Last night I went up to TR's and wrapped a couple of gifts. We went to bed early but I had my usual coughing fit from 1 to 2 am. Ugh. The drive in this morning wasn't too bad. I think some of the construction right after O'Hare has been cleared up, which may be accounting for the better traffic. But really, there's always so much construction going on anyway that one piece clearing up probably just means another piece will start up somewhere further up/down the road...

Alright, off to get some sh!t done!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I would be getting antsy too; I'm not known as the most patient person in the world.
I hope the class with the fire department turns in to a good thing for Marty. That would be nice.
Getting a lot of things done do count for something.
You and TR are welcome for the card. I ordered 20 more of them in glossy photo paper for work and decided they look better that way. I signed it from Marcy and the Teddy Bears. I thought that would be good for people at work. They don't print on the back of the glossy photos though.
Oh no for having a coughing fit in the middle of the night. I keep a toddlers non-spill cup by the bed with water to help me through a coughing spell. Sometimes i have to get up and wait it out though.
Darn those pesky road construction spots moving on to another spot. I swear it's constant. Our city did chip sealing this summer to save money - bad idea. Most of them are potholes again.
Nice that your drive back was less busy though.

Marty made tacos for supper tonight; now I have something for lunch tomorrow. Sweet.
i ordered Marty 3 silicone bands for his wedding ring and they came in the coolest little ring cases - I told him I wanted them come Christmas. They are little tins with foam inside then a circle cut out in the middle where the ring sets. Clever idea.

Take care.
Curby

Happy Wednesday kids!

Curby, are the silicone bands also fitness tracker type rings? I've seen those on line but haven't been motivated enough to order one. Plus, they aren't as attractive as my other rings so if I go to the trouble of putting on some bling in the morning it should be something pretty, right?!

Last night I out out to TR's. The gifts I ordered for the kids have arrived so I wrapped those and about half a dozen other gifts too. The weather report was iffy so I got up this morning and got on the road about 20 minutes earlier than normal. Fortunately there was no precipitation but that damn new traffic issue reared its ugly head again so I'm pretty sure it's a real thing. We say in Chicago there are two season: Winter and construction. We'll apparently now we've merged into just one miserable season that spans the whole year!

I made pretty huge headway on my project yesterday so now I've go to get with my boss and see if we can wrap it up. Speaking of wrapping things up, I also need to finish the last 2/3 of my x-mas cards. Hopefully that will happen today!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, darn it that the traffic showed up on your way back to town today. I think traffic is bad here and I am sure it's nothing compared to your area. Our construction season seems to be going year round too. I don't think that makes sense in either of our locations.
What did you get TR's kids for Christmas? I always find it more fun to shop for kids since I get to play with toys.
The silicone bands Marty has been wear are just bands - nothing special about them. They don't last long but don't get destroyed with lifting weights. I'm with you though I'd weather wear something pretty and that sparkles.
I hope you got your projects wrapped up at work. Does that mean you are taking off the rest of the year?

I wrote cards tonight for the people at work so will take those in tomorrow. I have a few gifts to wrap but then all I have left to do is bake. I hope.
We have brutal lazy wind here today - you know the kind that goes right through you instead of around you. I'm wearing my serious parka tomorrow. My boss is taking us out for lunch tomorrow so that will be a nice break in our daily routine.
I made a Marcy McMuffin for supper; I've been craving eggs for some reason.

Take care.

Beautiful sunrise this morning. It was worth limping to the patio door to see it. Stupid right knee.

Happy Thursday kids!

Curby, I got the little one some sort of video game thing off his list... and now you know everything I know about it! :cheeky: The big one wanted a ukulele. Yes. Really. He's obsessed with the band 21 Pilots and one of the guys plays a ukulele so next semester when he can take an instrument in school that's his choice. I got him the same brand as the one the 21 Pilots guy plays so I hope he likes it! I love to give gifts to people, especially kids!!!

Yesterday afternoon was our BBBS holiday party. We ate pizza and played games and made gingerbread houses (that actually involved graham crackers and marshmallow fluff and no gingerbread, but whatever). I cleaned up a little when I got home and did my nails in my dark winter color They look OK, but only OK. The very tippy tips don't seem to have any color. Maybe I took it off in my attempt to seal the ends with the clear top coat? I might have to try to fix that tonight because it will drive me crazy to look at that for the next ten days or so!

The xmas cards MUST go out today... !!!

Venting about my own stupidity...

When we came back from Italy I brought two scarves and a beach cover-up for sister #1. I have NO IDEA where these things have gone. NONE. I have torn my house apart. TR has torn his house apart. I've looked all over my car. I just had sister #2 open the big box of gifts I sent her to look at see if I accidentally put theses things in there when I shipped it. NADA.

Where the fvck did I put these things?!?

ARGH.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, oh no that you can't find the 2 scarves and beach cover-up for sister #1. I hope they turn up soon.
I think you got the perfect gifts for TR's kids. I love it when the provide you a list of things to pick from; makes it so much easier for those of us that don't have kids and aren't up on the latest, greatest gifts.
The Christmas party for BBBS sounds like a great time. I always wanted to make a Gingerbread house but of course my decorating skills are limited.
I hope you were able to fix your nails enough that you didn't have to redo them. Dark polish makes little things more noticeable.

Our boss took us to lunch today; it was a nice time. We tried a new restaurant in town and I thought it was pretty good. Two of us ordered French Dip sandwiches and they looked really good so the next time I go I plan on trying one of those. Marty is having a rash of insomnia so he wanted me to bring supper home today. He asked for chicken tenders and a Frosty - I picked up the same for me.

I am taking off next Monday and Tuesday from work. I was going to take the entire week off but it's annual appraisal time so I thought I'd better be at work to get those done.

Marty suggested and I agree we should get new carpet for our bedroom and closet before we get our new furniture. Of course that will make the carpet on the other side of our house look bad so then we'll need to replace it. We've been here 6 years on the 22nd and they put pretty cheap carpet in here. We could have upgraded but it was something like 10 to 12 thousand more and we'd already done quite a few upgrades. The stairs and man cave have the same carpet as well but it can wait until some other time.

Take care.
Curby

Happy Friday kids!

Curby, I decided to just ignore my nails, LOL. When I redo them at the end of next week I'm going for a light color though because I'll be out east for 10 days for the holidays and I won't want to have noticeable stuff going on if I can help it.

Last night I finished my xmas cards and they are currently in the mail room waiting to go out! I also did some cleaning up, but not a ton. This morning I wanted to get up early... but not quite as early as I actually woke up... at 5! Oh well. I did roll out of bed around 5:30 and started doing stuff, so now I've got well over an hour before the location scout for the commercial shows up. I am thinking I'll do a little accounting for the cow bag lady while I wait. Then #1 and her boyfriend will come by and grab me and we'll be on the road to Missouri. Road trip! Sill have no idea where those scarves or #2 beach cover up are... I was hoping it would come to me in the night, but no dice...

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, lighter polish definitely looks better for a longer time. I used to paint my nails when we were camping; there is a lot of time to set around and watch your nails dry.
Cool they might use your place for a commercial. I'll be anxious to hear about that. Safe travels to Missouri. Darn that those scarves and beach cover up didn't show up yet. Maybe for next year, huh?
Sorry to hear you woke up so early. I had the same darned problem. It's not even 10 yet and I'm yawning.

Work seemed to be painfully slow today. Probably because I'm not going back until Wednesday so I was anxious to get out of there. i'd take off the entire week but I need to get my employee appraisals underway next week. Phooey.

i ordered pizza for us for supper. Now my stomach is telling me that wasn't a good idea. I think the less carbs I eat the more they bother me.

Tomorrow morning I am baking round 3 of Christmas cookies.
Take care.

Happy Saturday kids!

Curby, I seriously have wracked my brain for days now about the location of those things and still no good ideas. You could be on to something -- maybe for next year!

Today I wrapped all the presents. There were a lot! I had to take a nap afterwards, ha ha. We just finished dinner and now I'm drinking prosecco and watching the preparations for tomorrows big meal happening in the kitchen

TR went to an auction today and got some blue depression glass!!! I have lots of clear and pink and green, and about 10 yellows, but only four blue glasses. The first blue I got down in KC about six years ago, and the other three of which I've found in the past few months. I'm so excited! He got quite a few of them (32 of three different kinds of glasses, I think) and I can't wait to see them all in person when I get back.

Tomorrow here is "Christmas." Ho ho ho!
