Help finding an engagement ring

personally I would spend every penny on the stone and put it in a simple tiffany style or bezel setting. 7 1/5 is a larger size. i would get as much stone as possible in a milgrained bezel (finger coverage and vintage look) then in 7 years you upgrade the setting or the stone and the setting

I know it varies wildly, but for a ring that's like the Verragio posted below with the Verragio-esque metalwork in the band with extra diamonds, what would a price point be for something like that making it custom? I think the rose gold ring embedded in this thread is what she really wants, but I've heard those concerns about the Verragio being overpriced and underwhelming in other places, furthermore, the rose gold is no longer in production. I know you can't say, "replicate this ring exactly" because there would be copyright, but what is the going price?

Also:
Thanks for the Gabriel Co link! I like the way those look, but they just aren't quite capturing the spirit that I've come to admire with the Verragios (and presumably my GF has too). The Verragios' filigree/milgrain/metalwork (I'm just the layman, here I don't know the terms!) is just more ornate and intricate in the band that I haven't seen successfully duplicated elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I'm not stuck on Verragio, but until I can find a brand that can duplicate that finely ornate appearance, that seems to be where I have to head....

Has your girlfriend seen the Verragios in real life? If not, then she needs to ASAP... I'd hate for you to spend 75% of your ring budget on the setting and have your GF not "feel the spirit" she felt from the ads. Also, the the overall look will be different with a smaller diamond than is in the ads -- it will not have the same aesthetic. The ring will look different.

Totally agree with this. And I might have missed it, but have you seen any Gabriel and Co and/or Beverly K rings in person? I wouldn't be so quick to rule them out, especially Gabriel and Co. Spending 75% of the total budget on the setting is bananas to me, but I understand if that's what's most important to you. I just think you can get the same bang for less buck.

I just wanted to say that I looked at a ton of Gabriel & Co. rings this past Friday and they were very nice!! The milgraining was perfect and I was very impressed. It was the first time I really held them in my hand and inspected them -- I was impressed, especially for the price!
