Ok, I have a question and I need feedback from all you diamond crazy LIW (and that now includes me)

I have recently found a diamond online that I think I love (I''m not sure of course because I haven''t seen the actual diamond). The thing is my BF and I are not yet looking for diamonds or rings. I think we will be in a few months because we want to be engaged this next summer. So, do you think I should take a chance and mention to him that I found a diamond that I reeeally like? or should I lay low until he says he''s ready to start searching?? By then my diamond will probably be gone. I guess a similar one may show up...

Anyways, What would YOU do???

It couldnt hurt to send him the link so he can have some concrete idea of what you want. But if he wasnt thinking about purchasing until the summer I wouldn''t get too attached to that one because he may not have the money yet or just may not quite be ready to bite the bullet. I started looking at stones about 6-8 months before he was thinking of buying and I saw many stones that I was sure were "the one" come and go because he wasnt ready yet. On the other hand when he did buy the stone I had no idea it was him since I was used to seeing my latest favourite disappear and I was totally surprised when he gave it to me.

Good luck in the diamond search!

Although the two of you aren''t really looking yet, it definitely doesn''t hurt to mention it to him. Most men, IMO, need gentle guidance when it comes to certain things, and jewelry buying is one of them. If you just mention it or send him a link, it''s just a gentle nudge. That''s why I do with my BF. I basically tell him there''s a site that I want to show him, and had him look at WF''s ACA line. That way, if he wants to look more in the future, he''ll have some sort of reference point.

Hope this helps.

Yep, I am with Cinderella on this one!

I''d send him the link, and see if he takes the bait.

You definitely want to be involved in the buying process, regardless of whether your buying it now or next year.

What is it you have seen....what is the spec?

best wishes dyanne

if you guys have talked about it then yeah, show it to him. there''s no need to ''lay low'' if he''s told you he wants to be engaged by the summer!

I would mention it to him. They way I look at it he is going to be your husband so you should be brave enough to have an open and honest communication about what ring/diamond you want. He might be WAITING for you to say something. This is stressful for guys too. Guessing the ring of your dreams is kind of impractical IMHO.

Prices just go up.
In the time span I was looking I watched prices go up three times, and they've gone up quite a bit since we bought it in August.
If the price is right, if you guys have the money and you love it, get it. There is no reason he can't wait till the summer to propose.

Scintillating...

Alright, thanks everyone! I''ll go ahead and show it to him

Another thing is, the diamond I''m looking at is a K. The numbers look like it''s well cut to me, it''s an ES on Whiteflash. I''ve been looking at photos of J and K diamonds here on PS and to me they look beautiful. So I walked into a couple of jewelry stores yesterday and asked them if they had any J or K color diamonds that I could look at since I''ve never seen any in person. Both of the jewelers looked at me like I was crazy! They asked me why on Earth I wanted a J or K, especially as an e-ring, and acted like I had said I was going to chop off my right hand or something!

Anyways, they were trying to talk me out of it and I just smiled and listened to what they had to say about it.

I think they might have gotten to me a little bit though, because I''m kind of second guessing myself now. I know that all diamonds are different and that I really need to see this K diamond in person to see if I like it or not.

Does anyone have any advice on buying a K for an e-ring, and is this how all B&M stores act because they sell diamonds only by color and inclusions? Thanks.

Aside the sweet talk, did they show you any J-K H&A ?

If not, you may be in luck looking for 8* ones if there is any distributor in your area.

Besides, if this is from WF, there is a return policy. So you can always ''try'' one such stone out.

My 2c.
