Help, I have buyers remorse. Are the proportions okay? I might have rushed into this purchase.

Hi,

I bought a my first diamond online and want to know from the group if the proportions are decent? Do the numbers tell you anything like good light return?

H
VS1
Triple X
No Fluorescence
57% Table
62.3% Depth
36 CA
40.6 PA
8x8.04x5

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is James Allen I bad place to buy from? I figured with my return policy I didn't have much to lose. I did days on days of research and searching and ended up buying this one lol. Not sure how I came to that particular pick but I did. I am not looking to get a rare one of a kind stone, just one that is a cut above the rest at a fair price. I started to get so bogged down into the numbers, then started getting HCA scores for all the one's I looked at. I don't know, I just looking for some guidance and help. If I made I bad purchase I can always return it and get something else. Or if something is available now, buy it and compare the two and return one. What are your thoughts please?
 
JA is great vendor...I think whoever cut it was bit "overaggressive" to hit the 2ct weight.... 36 crown can be hard to pull off well.... what was the price ? what's the budget and requirements ? (Size / color / clarity / Fluor or No fluor etc..)

the cost was $17330 and my requirements were 1.9 to 2ct. H & VS1 above. Round, no fluor. I could be convinced to go with fluor but just decided to stay away from it. I want a diamond that will sparkle and shine so I started eliminating stones that were high on the HCA scale. My budget was 15k when I started, so I'm not really trying to break what I've already exceeded

you can put links to JA - personably i like Fluor and Eye Clean Si1 for the value... Very hard to see Small crystals in real life w/o magnification...
(My philosophy these day with all the colorless VVS no fluor labs running around is to embrace the Natural ~ so unique inclusions within reason + even warm colors J/K etc..and FL is good)

Wow, that's a great find. I have been told or read that SI1's are not always eye clean when you get into the 2ct arena. But it looks like you went with a higher color and lower clarity to get to your price point. Also, the arrows on that diamond look more symmetrical than the one I purchased. The HCA score for mine is 1.6

 
I'm not a fan of the stone you bought. I'll try to find alternatives. There are much better choices out there

Thank you for your help and also thank you freddyboston! Technically my ring order is in production at JA and not scheduled to ship until 3/7/25.

I always do things backwards and this is one of them. I should have come here first to talk to the pros.

Thank you for those recommendations. Both are in the "true hearts" cut, which is the best cuts. However I have to sacrifice the color and clarity to get there at my budget. Well, technically my budget is 17500 Are there cuts that are not in the "true hearts" but close enough but still bump the color up to h or better? I haven't considered an I color...that seems like its too low on the scale, but I'm the one who has set those expectations...

If you want a different diamond it's worth calling them and seeing if they can change them out, even if the ring is in production. It's worth a shot.

Is it possible for 2 online diamond retailers to be selling the same diamond (GIA #) with 2 different prices? I have legitimately found one and it makes me feel like something is shady is going on. Anyone have knowledge of this?

Yes it happens all the time. Most vendors don't actually own their stock. They are "drop shippers" and the stone is overseas. It's a very common practice. Now,

Among true super ideal vendors like Whitrflash, Jann Paul, Victor canera, etc, they have their own in house stones that are cut for them. So they own the stone itself and no one else can sell it because it's physically with them.

Are you familiar with Adiamor.com? Do you know if they are a reputable company? The price difference is what's confusing. It's 2k difference

Yup, adiamor is a valid place to buy. Also some places will price match. Sp if you see a lower price on adiamor vs james Allen you can tell James Allen and they will match (usually(

can you please look at SKU 23315048 at JA? I asked this question earlier but some of my post are waiting for moderator approval because of links and picture attachments... This one here is $680 more than the one I bought. Also, "true hearts" That "cut upgrade" seems worth it. But am I being a sucker for going with such high clarity? It's also a 1.1 on HCA, and it's the one on Adiamor for less $$
