I''m changing my e-ring and w-band however not my diamond because I love it and DH would croak at the slightest mention of another large jewelry purchase

But I am having the hardest time deciding and would really like and appreciate other opinions. My diamond is a 1.06 princess cut diamond- F, VS2 if that matters

My current set is a cathedral solitare and I have 2 wedding bands that I change depending on which look I want, a 3mm plain and a 1/2 ct. princess channel. All are in platinum however the new set will be in white gold for various reasons.

This set to me is just breathtaking: http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/diamond/rings/combination_tiffany_ring.asp?ring=shared&

And would love to have something similar (but with a princess stone) OR this following set: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5240&catid=150&filter_id=0&nav1=settings_channel.asp&page=1&col=1&row=4&pos=10&set_shape=

What I can''t decide on is which set or if I go with set #2, going with a thinner band such as this: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=4784&catid=150&filter_id=0&nav1=settings_channel.asp&page=1&col=3&row=1&pos=3&set_shape=

I can''t decide because I love both looks! The rings will be purchased through Blue Nile and I''ll be sending them my diamond to set in the e-ring.

The closest I have come to duplicating the first set is this: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=4506&catid=7&filter_id=0&nav1=settings_channel.asp&page=1&col=3&row=1&pos=3&set_shape= and this: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5391&catid=8&filter_id=0&nav1=band_channel.asp&page=1&col=3&row=2&pos=6&set_shape=

What I like about the plain e-ring setting is if I want a plain 2.5mm band as well I can. But what I love about the princess sidestones and diamond wedding band are the sparkle!

So which setting would really maximize my stone? Or do you have other suggestions? I''m so sorry but I don''t know how to upload images! I love the photo in Christy42''s (?) post that shows the princess channel setting e-ring.

*sigh* I can''t bug DH about this anymore as he just wants me to *make a decision* already! After lurking for so many months I''ve decided to ask the experts

.....for a princess, i like the two with the channel set diamonds.....it''s a nice, clean look

I vote for the bottom channel set rings because:

1 - the smaller princess melee would show off your 1+ ct stone more than the set above it (which I think
would look better with a 2 - 3 ct center stone)

2 - I like the idea of an all "princess" e-w ring set

3 - the solitare is a little too plain in my opinion

4 - I love the shared prong look, but I think RBs would look better with a RB center stone

How about...

and perhaps a shared prong eternity band to go with it - either with rounds or princess cut stones, slightly smaller than the smallest sidestones of the ring (the picture stands for 1 carat center and half carat total sides - which means the smallest sidestones might be ten points each or so.).

My sister has a 1ct princess in the first channel set princess set. (the one with 1ctwt of princess channel set diamonds). It is gorgeous although I think the bottom setting (the one with 1/2 cwt) would show off the diamond better. I agree the solitaire might be a little too plain. I recently had my diamond put into a solitaire setting now I am looking to have it reset in a setting with side stones!

I have seen the shared prong setting with a princess in the center (some on SMTR thread have it) and it is stunning as well!

Thank you all! You echoed my thoughts exactly. Another combo I was thinking of was using the 1/4 ct. princess channel setting for the e-ring but the 1/2 ct. princes channel ring for the wedding band. Mixing it up a little bit? but I''m not sure how fluid that would look. I love love love Mara''s rings and the thinner bands. Blue Nile has a platinum verison that''s similar (it''s not eternity style) but I really need white gold.

My only concern about the 1/2 carat set is that my 1.06 stone would be overshadowed and I really wanted to maximize the sparkle and beauty of my diamond

Thank you again!!

I think that the more diamonds, the more your rings will sparkle. I don''t have a hand shot, but see my rings on the right. I have 3 sided micro pave eternity set with my princess cut.

Good luck!

I vote the first one. Your stone will pop in a tiffany style solitaire. Then get yourself an eternity band made with either round or princess stones. :)

Not to hi-jack the thread, but DESTINY...I love your rings!!!!!!! Please, by all means, start your own thread with pictures.

On to the matter at hand...Feb Bride: I like the third set that belle posted!

I vote for either the smaller channel set or the plain solitaire. I think with the channel set you will get a lot more sparkle but the Solitaire can be dressed up with a sparkly wedding band or be plain and simple. I personally like the more plain/simple looks, but I think that the channel set would also be beautiful, especially with a princess cut.
