I have the setting below from LOGR in 14k Rose gold with VS diamonds. The only thing is I have nothing to set in it. All my EC are much larger then 5 x 7. So I thought I would ask all the PSers who have impecable taste (you know you do) what you would put in there. My budget is sort of small for this since I just bought a bunch of stuff. I wouldn't want to spend more then $250.

TIA! :twirl:

I would put an emerald in there because I like emeralds.

This is going to be highly challenging because of not only the specific dimension requirement but that the colour must go well with the rose gold. OK, so basically, let's start with the colours that are complimentary and most likely to be under $250.
Purple (amethyst, spinel, rhodolite)
Pink (tourmaline, spinel, Malaya garnet)
Minty (tourmaline, garnet, green beryl)

I think i'm leaning towards pink- since I already have several minty tourmaline rings (though they are set in white gold- big mistake!) and i'm having JKT set my amethyst suite in rose gold this month (new thread coming soon on that project).

Do you think morganite would look bizarre with an EC cut for this ring?

Look at the first stone on Peter Torraca's page of Spinels. Size is close but not sure if it would work.

edited to add...just realized this one is way over the budget you put in...sorry!

I'm not so sure about such a tiny morganite. It is so inexpensive at such a size that I'm not sure if you can find something that small (precision cutters won't do it as it isn't worth their time, effort and cost). Not only that, the stone will most likely end up almost colourless if you are fine with that.

Does anyone think this spinel would fit? It measures 4.59 x 7.41 mm.

Proportions don't look right to me, but hard to tell

Agreed, the proportions do not look like a 5 x 7.5 mm stone. The length looks like it is almost 2 times the width. You should contact Dan to confirm the dimensions.
