After reading the eye candy section I decided for my girlfriend''s birthday that I would get her one. I bought this setting which was not to expensive.and seem to be a recomend ebay seller for semi-mounts. Here is the setting I want to put some kind of a colored stone in there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270567375407&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D270567375407%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 It says it fits a 7.5mm round stone. Does that mean I should be looking for 7.5mm exact? Or slightly smaller/bigger to ensure it fits ? I want to buy a well cut stone that will really stand out on her finger! Please help

Hi Roseboy! It is a simple mount, simple can be pretty too:) It need not be 7.5mm exact, 2-3mm give an take (bigger or smaller) should not be a problem. What is the color that you like? Is the stone meant for daily wear or its just for outing? You will need to consider these to decide if you need a hardier stone e.g sapphire, chrysoberyl, spinel..

She meant to say .2-.3 mm, in case that''s not obvious...

Hi roseboy, and welcome to PS. What is your budget for the stone, and what color would she prefer?

I''ll begin with a suggestion for a nice Malaya garnet from Gemrite. Link

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions! I love the orange and green stones and im sure she likes the pinks/purple''s.

I was thinking a spinel because how well they sparkle but im vey open to other suggestions. I want to spend no more then $200 USD on the stone( can I get a great stone for that price with no windows?) I guess im looking for something that''s stunning will knock her of her feet and all her girlfriends will adore
I really like these stones what do u think about these? rate them please on a womens view

What colors does she wear a lot? Whats her style, classic and understated or fun and colorful? You know her best, which stone do you think she would like best? I do like the stones in your first three links, good luck deciding. :)

I like the setting and think many stones will look lovely in it. I personally would go for green or purple. PINK is loved by a few women but not by all. Somehow it attracts strong feelings among the women I know. So if she wears alot of pink then it would be OK. I personally love orange but I''m not sure that all women do. Think about what colors she wears and what would look good with them when picking the stone color.

Good Luck!!

eta: maybe a color change stone (garnet, sapphire, spinel) so she can have 2 colors in one ring?
