Hello

I have been lusting over this ring for months, well out if my price range, and now sold. Was originally advertised for $65,000-

I have also put a post to an Instagram video which only made me want the ring more.

The thing is, I wouldn't seek out an emerald in this tone usually, it doesn't scream emerald to me. Which got me thinking, is there another stone which has a similar colour/ feel? It almost looks more like a Santa Marie aquamarine or a tourmaline...

Many thanks for your thoughts

Beautiful. Definitely reminds me of tourmaline. Here's a side-by-side.

I usually associate 'Santa Maria' with a darker blue and minimal green. But aquamarine/mint beryl can have a similar look.

I feel like if I bought that ring, every time I wore it I would need to explain to people that it's an emerald.

Reminds of a green Beryl or a Tourmaline too.

Yes -- I admired that ring and thought it was cool. Not accessible for us, either, but worth saving the screenshot!

In theory, that kind of material should be get-able in that good clarity -- but I do not know how to find it. Spouse has one old "emerald" and it is close to this color -- light-medium to medium tone and a very bluish green. Too fragile to wear with her lifestyle (I did not know any better when I got it) so it sits in the safe deposit box.

I know for muzoemeralds on IG, the price seems to drop steeply as saturation dips. You could send them the picture and ask if they encounter material like this and what they do with it. You can also ask Inken -- I think she has sourced Colombian, Zambian, and even Russian emeralds, IIRC (but I may be wrong). I am guessing it was from some secondary source and not one of the biggies, geographically. (EDIT: Oops -- listing says Colombian)

Thanks everyone, I've really appreciated all of your responses.

Just saw this:

^ I can not tell what that IG post is but muzoemeralds just posted about "cristal con tono" lighter-toned material -- you can ask them about that.

Here's a few screenshots from their IG with more medium to light toned ones.
