Hey there!

Living in California, I don''t think it''s going to be too easy to find acorns for our fall wedding. Does anyone have any ideas about where to find them?

Also, anyone know how they keep (I need them for November 3)

Thanks in advance, this is really proving to be a PITA!

yikes. that''s going to be hard since they are out of season. Maybe you could make a bunch out of clay?

Yeah, I guess that will have to be an option, ugh.

I saw some cute ones made out of a fall-colored hershey kiss, though. Hmmm

thanks!

My FMIL will still have a ton on her lawn. LOL. Did you do a search for ''buy acorns'' on google?

Hm... no, I didn''t! I even looked up ebay. I''m lame. Thanks Gypsy!

See this is why I''m not a millionaire.

It would never occur to me to charge 9 bucks for yard trash. LOL.

Thanks, Sumbride!

Also, I hear ya, Gypsy. Hm... anyone want to buy some bottled LA air? (Smog)

I bet craft stores would have acorns. Don''t people make T''giving centerpieces out of them or something? Or maybe one of us could scoop some up and mail a big box of ''em to you.

I don''t know about acorns, but I do know that BB&B sells pine cones in late summer. They might have acorns too. I bet any type of craft store i.e. Michael''s, Jo Ann Fabrics would have them.

Thanks everyone- I''ll keep my eye out!

(but I will trade you straight across for some beach sand).

During the fall Garden Ridge, Michaels and Hobby Lobby all have acorn "Picks". These are small groupings of acorns with a floral stick so you can stick them in wreaths...or plants...or in curtain tie backs...for interior decor. They also have candle rings made from them.

Some are real acorns, while others are resin or plastic etc. But they really look real. Some will have leaves or gourds or curly grapevine curls attached. You can get a good looking full fall pick for about 35 cents. They had acorn garland last year. It consisted of a 9 foot length with fall leaves, acorns, and branches.

Another option for you is to consider using nuts. Almond, walnuts and pecans are great to extend that fall theme. This may add filler to your acorn stash. Baby pumpkins, cut pomegranite, squash etc. Oh and what about sweet gum tree balls?

I realize in California the seasons consist of usually just one...PERFECT...but we have all 4 seasons, and the acorns.

Thanks, DKS!!! I''ll have to keep my eyes peeled, and will probably use some nuts as well.

Damn this non-season Los Angeles!

If acorns are your biggest worry...fret not. If you can''t find any, I will figure some way to ship you some. A flat rate flat box at the post office will run $8.50. No matter the weight. Acorns will be heavy in that large of quanity.

I will gladly fill some for you. Just remind me when we get closer

to the date. Everthing that is on the ground here...was covered in 11 inches of snoe for 10 days. Maynot be the best specimens. I will look tomorrow.

hey, you know what...acorns are actually seeds...contact your local feed/seed/ag store and inquire about acorns.

Amber, I was at Tinsel Trading (or it might have been M&J) in NYC yesterday and I saw some faux acorns and immediately thought of you! I think they were ridiculously expensive, though, like $15 dollars for a dozen acorns or something...

I say take DKS up on her offer!

Amber! I have the perfect solution for your acorn dilemma. Not only will he do all the collecting for you, he'll keep 'the goods' hidden until the time is right. All he demands is a small commission, of say, 3% of the acorns, plus a warm place to sleep for the winter... you live in California, right? I'm sure you can give him a corner of your yard or something!

IG....hee hee hee. I love that photo! Did you take it?

DKS

PS. the beach area in california have a different squirrel. They are smaller rounder and look waterproof. Really cool.

Alas, no, DKS. I didn''t take that pic. He looks like an industrious little guy though, doesn''t he? Maybe a little rough around the edges. And I hope the position Amber is offering would come with dental benefits. Yuck!

Hahahah, thanks for all the help everyone! I''ve been internet lazy lately.

DKS, thanks so much for the offer!!

IG, that squirrel looks like he could kick my ass in a second, but very acorn-aggressive!

Also, Fata, thanks for remembering me! I''m going to start calling around places, maybe find some fake ones.

Do acorns go bad?
