So I''m hopeless. I feel like I can''t get too into planning until I know what my colors will be. I have two options I really like and I want the experts opinions. Be open and honest. No hard feelings here!

Option 1: Peacock color theme. Deep purple, teal, maybe some gold thrown in for an accent. Just lovely rich jewel tones. I like this because most people look good in jewel tones and I purple is my all-time fave color. I''d love to be able to incorporate it.

Option 2: Lemon/Lime color theme. Doesn''t necessarily have to be bright colors. Muted yellow and green works too. I like this because I''m a huge fan of lemons/limes in centerpieces (think cut lemons in water in a tall clear vase). I''m also a big sucker for yellow roses. They just make me happy.

Now, I''d love to be able to show you guys an inspiration board for each color, but I haven''t made anything (hopeless, remember?) I also don''t have pictures of the reception hall, as it is under construction at the moment. I can tell you that "opulent" is a good word to describe it. A ballroom decorated in golds, browns, ocher, etc.

Wedding is set for late afternoon/early evening on July 3rd 2010. Possibly outside.

If you''ve read this far, thanks! If you have an opinion, even better! I just really can''t decide. Peacock seems sexy and romantic (yet possibly on the verge of becoming really trendy). Lemon/Lime seems whimsical and light. FI doesn''t care one way or the other. He just wants me to pick colors. Ugh, it''s going to be a long 10+ months if this is already stressing me out. Maybe I should just put the color combos in a hat and pick one.

Thanks in advance ladies!

I love the peacock color theme with the gold. It screams "opulent" to me. You can do soooo much with it! I would totally go with that - and it works in any season!

Lemon/lime and opulent don't fit in the same paragraph IMHO.

Ditto! I think those colors sound like they''d work with your venue, too!

agree with the peacock theme. you don''t have to go overboard, just use the colors. if you''re worried about it being too overdone...umm, hello?! lemons are being done all of the time. i used the cut lemon centerpieces as inspiration for mine (we swapped it for apples) but still- i think you''re way ahead of the curve. look on off-beat bride. there are some REALLY cute pics of a peacock wedding!

Just because my favorite color of roses are Yellow too

I''ll go with #2 . But it sounds like your fave color is Purple so you may have to opt for #1. Not helping much huh?

Deep Purple and gold is a very classic and lush color combination, so I''d go with peacock colors too! I might just keep the actual peacock feathers to a minimum

I think the color scheme really depends on the type of flowers you want, your dress, and, most especially, the venue. It sounds like the first color scheme is a better fit for the venue.

However, if you''re doing an outside ceremony and wearing a floaty cotton or linen wedding dress, I think you should go for the yellow and green.

Just sit and think really hard about the kind of wedding you want. Make a couple of inspiration boards and see which one really speaks to you.

Agreed!

I think the first theme would work great with the sound of your reception hall. Those colors scream opulent and rich (not monetarily, lol!) to me.

Not much a fan of gold for decorating; think the lemon/lime theme sounds very fun, bright, cheery, lots of good wedding adjectives in my mind.

Me too! Love yellow flowers (my bouquet was yellow roses) and I

a yellow/lime green combo but I think option 1 would work much better with your venue. Teal, purple, and gold would be beautiful.

Awww, thanks! I love the colour; it''s so cheery.

I L.O.V.E yellow =) second idea second idea!!!!!!!!

Would another combination work, possibly? For instance:

Alternative option 1: Purple, Green, Yellow/Gold
Alternative option 2; Green, Teal, Yellow/Gold

I personally feel that since we are starting to see a lot of peacock now, it will feel a little tired this time next year (though I love the combo). I also feel that it is a little heavy for a mid-summer, non-nighttime wedding. IMO, the colors need to be lighter and whimsical. So, I am going with option two.

Agreed!

ditto!! deep color read more "opulent" to me...lemon/lime read more casual/garden-y.

Oh, definately the peacock themes.

I love rich jewel tones.. so gorgeous!

I would go for the teal and gold, sounds very sophisticated and regal!!! I love lemon and bright colours, but for some reason, I like the first colour combo first!

Have you picked a venue yet? It might be easier to pick a colour scheme when your venue is chosen.

Love the peacock jewel tone theme, especially for your venue.

Here''s one of my centerpiece inspiration pics.

Thank you so much for the opinions! I think I''m leaning towards the peacock colors too. But every time I think I''ve decided, I change my freaking mind!!! Gah!

I''m going to do some deep thinking. And if that fails me, I''m going to play eenie-meenie-mynie-moe.
