I''ve been searching for a morganite for a couple of months and having no joy. Have looked at hundreds and bought a few but none have been right, so am now turning to the experts here - HELP, please!!!!!!!!

I''m looking for precision cut around 3cts, trilliant shape and it has to be pink enough to hold its own against white gold in daylight hours.

Does anybody know of any sites that have something suitable?

Oh, and the budget would ideally be no more than $500 although I can go more if it was an absolutely "blow your mind" stone.

You''ve all been so helpful in the past, I''m hoping you might be able to help again

Thanks

Does it have to be precision cut because that really narrows down vendors?

Also, do you want a peach coloured Morganite or a pink one?

Hi LD,

It doesnt absolutely have to be precision cut but it does have to be very well cut to maximise the flash. Colourwise I could live with peachy pink as long as its a noticeable colour. One of the ones I bought is a peach-pink but quite pale (the vendor pics looked a lot darker). It looks OK in evening light but loses all colour in sunlight.

Hi Charmypoo,
Yes it does have to be a morganite.

Ok, there are a few trilliants around and I've highlighted them below (AJS seem to have the biggest selection of Trilliants) but I've also linked to some that aren't trilliants in case other cuts might be acceptable:

Not a vendor I would recommend (as I've bought from them and somehow they manage to manipulate their videos) but thought you might like to see these and they're certified which is always a bonus:

This is a UK seller. I've bought from him before and everything has been as he said. This isn't the best cut in the world.

Trilliant: Never bought from this seller but the colour of this one appeals to me:

Trilliants: Some very pretty ones here (and a well respected Vendor):

If you like concave cuts:

Not a trilliant but an intersting cut. Very pale (perhaps too pale for you)?

There you go, that should keep you going for 10 minutes or so!

Thanks LD,

I had looked at the concave cut stones from Richard and love the colour of #6153 but its over budget and the wrong shape and size. I've got a very specific design in mind for this stone which is why I'm struggling to find a stone thats the right shape size and colour

This one from paraibainternational http://www.paraibainternational.com/product_info.php?product=2020 would be perfect if only it was smaller, but I suspect if it was smaller then the colour wouldnt be so good.

Thanks for looking though. The ebay stone from global gemstones might be worth a punt especially given the pricepoint. I've put a bid in but have a feeling it might be quite pale in real life. There's one on AJS that looks quite good also - I had forgotten about them so thanks for the reminder

Morganite tends to fade, it is one pink stone I steer clear of because
1) IMO the pink is kind of washed out and desaturated, even on darker ones.
2) It can fade in sunlight

I have an 8 carat I never ever wear. So far it''s kept it''s pink color because it sits in a box.
