Help! Newbie seeking large citrine cocktail ring

Hi all, I’m pretty new to CS but I’ve been tasked with helping my best friend’s husband find her an amazing citrine cocktail ring for her 10 year anniversary. Budget is $2500. She loves these two from David Yurman but I’m thinking I can try to find her something even prettier at a better price. I’ve started following some of the precision gemstone cutters recommended on here but haven’t yet seen a large citrine stone along the lines of the attached.
I’ve also never ever purchased a setting and stone separately to be set, nor do I have a jeweler . I’m in nyc, if that helps.
Any recs or assistance would be much appreciated!

Citrine is not an expensive stone, hence I believe the pieces are overpriced due to their designer label.

Here is a nice big Citrine from Jeff Davies, and he has a few listed in his eBay and Etsy shops.



Once you have found a stone to your liking, you can then find a bench to make a similar ring for you.

Thank you! I’ve been searching and also came across some peach mahenge garnets that look glorious. I think she might be open to those as well.
My question is — how do I find a bench once I’ve found a stone? I don’t have a jeweler and have never done this before so feeling slightly like a fish out of water! I’ve seen ivy & rose vintage sell some settings. But once you find a stone, how do you go about finding the setting and getting it set? Or do you send the stone to the company selling the setting to set?

$2500 is a really great budget for citrine and you can buy an amazing estate piece or custom make a ring with lots of diamonds or sidestones. Make sure you see real world images of whatever you buy, not just studio photos.

I really really love citrine and have been collecting some of it.

I do not recommend Jeff Davies for citrine, the citrine I purchased from him was cut inappropriately for the type of stone and looks like this in the vast majority of angles and lighting conditions.

Citrine is a really inexpensive gemstone so you should be able to pick up a stone and/or a stone and setting for much less than your budget and still have a large chunk of change. Citrine can come in large sizes so please bear that in mind because some ladies find huge cocktail rings very difficult to wear. Other ladies will wear them all day, every day. Have a look on Etsy and I would think you'll find some great rings on there.

Yes, large Citrines are quite plentiful. I have quite a few that I’ve bought at Auction over the years, I have them as decoration.
