Hi All,

I'm hoping you can help me. I have looked at (what feels like) 10,000 asscher cut diamonds and I think I've narrowed it down to two options. That said, I'm far from an expert and while I read Karl K.'s "Performance and the P3 Facets', I'm afraid most of it went over my head and so I thought I'd ask some real experts. Will you take a look at the following asschers and let me know if they are 'good' ones? I want a stone that is slightly warm in color.

Thanks in advance for your help! Mary

The 3.91 ticks me off flip it sideways see the huge steep pavilion first step?
Weight retention and it causes issues under tilt and less spread.
It looked very promising face up and I love the crown height.

The 3.99 cut is good and crystal should be eye clean.
Its worth an in person look.
Its treated cvd so pricing should be reasonable.(compare)

Neither is going to look tinted being F grade

Okay-- this is likely a dumb question but option 1 is bad but option 2 is likely okay/worth a look? The stone is 1,285.00 -- does that seem like a fair price? Thanks for your help on this.

I think you have that reversed but not at computer to check for sure..
Check the weight and go by that.
You can use the ps search engine to get a price range.

I didn't read Karl's post as saying that option 1 is bad, just that the proportions annoyed him. Do you like it better?
If you like tint, start at G or H. You'll have lots of choices for less money.

Thanks for your help with this -- I'm definitely suffering from analysis paralysis! I found these two Asschers that look promising. The other two I posted earlier evidently have windowing (according to the person I was chatting with at LGD). I have no idea how to tell if a diamond has windowing just by looking at a video.

Will you take a look and let me know if you think these are good ones?

I don't care for the 4.05, the 2nd one comes closer to the first two above. I like the first two the best, tho don't go by me.
If Karl says a diamond is worth a look, I would ignore/reject whatever I was told by a salesperson.

Those are both far far worse than the first two.
Way to much dark zones that do not flash quickly.

Not warm, E. Not lively enough? Too much black? Crystal issues? Get expert input.
18.5 percent crown......

can you tell me where you found that? I'd like to see the video and correlate with Karl's comments.

I went back to the drawing board, did some homework, and found these -- I looked for stones without a lot of black, no treatment, and a decent sized crown. I'm learning as I go and I'm grateful for your guidance! I know I need to make the final call when I see the stones in person but I'm trying to avoid buying 4 or 5 stones at once!

Video won't work on the first stone for me. The only one I like of the others in terms of cut is the last one, but the crystal gives me pause

These 2 are bad. The person doesn't know what they're talking about if they say the original 2 you posted have winnowing

none of these are close to the 3.99 in being well cut.

Thanks for your reply -- can you tell me more about the crystal? Is there something I should be looking for? TIA!

not bad but the 3.99 has the edge over it.

I keep coming back to the 3.99 as well but Susan at LGD said it has 'a windowing'. I think I'll just order it and see for myself. Shopping online for an Asscher seems to be a good way to make a person nutso!
