I’m asking for some help please. I never have asked about a cad before, but I feel thing ring has more going on. So opinions/advice is greatly appreciated:) I was able to get a matching garnet for any of you that remember the original thread. Very happy about that!

Forgot to add I will have the band be 2.5mm, not 2.8mm.

Looks like a fair copy of what tou asked for.
this design being different / not having a diamond, are you sure you want one bezeled and one in prongs?

The baskets look fairly solid. Do you want them open to let light in? I know your inspiration picture has a solid basket around the diamond, but have you tried seeing what your gems are like with maybe wrapping a thin strip of foil around to see if the colour becomes darker?

I’m positive about that part. I will have the one diamond bezeled by the bezeled garnet. Some small diamond off to the one side. I just wasn’t sure at all about proportion. Thank you Noel!

That’s a really good point!! Thank you! I am more concerned about keeping the gemstones and diamond clean. I will discuss that with David. Do the proportions look good to you?

No, sorry to be clear you want one colored stone bezeled and one colored stone not bezeled ? Just to keep in with the exact same design?

Yes. I really like that part of the design.

Proportionally I think it looks like you’re design so nothing to worry about there.

Thank you @Niel Are you not caring for it because it’s not a diamond and a colored stone? Would you like it better with 2 different colored stones? Thanks!

Do you like this style better. I don’t think anyone likes the first style...
I like the cushion and pear a lot! I decided against my chrome tourmaline and pear spinel since it looks too much like Christmas. I think my chrome tourmaline looks more like a radiant shape. I just feel like I have so many loose colored stones. Is there any shape besides a pear that would look good with the chrome tourmaline? Thanks!

I’m wary of bezeling colored stones. And I’m not sure this design is a 1:1 translation if you’re doing two colored stones vs a diamond and a colored stone.

If this is your favorite 3 stone design I say continue with it. But a bezeled color stones will look different after bezeling in a way you don’t have to worry about a diamond.

What stones are we talking about pairing again?

A blue Montana sapphire and a pink garnet or 2 matching pink garnets.
If it’s a bad idea to bezel set a colored stone, I would wait on that setting. I love the cushion and the pear. Idk maybe I live with people thinking it looks like Christmas.
I’m starting to feel like I’m having to try too hard to make something work. That tells me there’s a problem.

FWIW I like the CAD design and I think it will be beautiful as is for your two CS + little diamond ... my two cents.

It’s worth a lot @marymm , thank you!

Being December 23rd makes everything seem like Christmas. Would it really feel Christmasy in June? Unless it’s ruby red I’m not sure.

And I’m not here to talk you out of any design. Just if you’re in a design stage this is just things to think about you know - I’d there a way to improvise the setting for my specific stones or is this the best option.

I didn’t think so, well maybe a little:) Our 18 year old daughter’s first comment was it looks like a Christmas ring. The spinel is not ruby red. More cranberry or burgundy. A part of me wishes my pair was chubbier. I just have too many stones, I want to set some of them. Instead I’m feeling like a need to buy more to make everything work.

I realize that. I want people to be direct, I appreciate that. On my colored stones- I’ve set 3, they are all bezeled. They have open galleries I guess you could call it. I don’t feel that has effected the color or dispersion of those 3. I’m going to look at the ring you have I believe it has a blue sapphire and see how it is set. I love that ring, and many other pieces you have!!! Thanks!

I do love your ring Niel:) I can see by looking at your ring that how yours is set is more of what I had in mind. In the cad there’s more metal and less prong. I like that yours is mostly the prongs. That helps with that part- thanks!

Ok- this is what I am having tweaked. The prong set colored stone sits up higher. There is open space between that stone and where the shank on either side meets the bezeled diamond. The side where the diamonds are isn’t straight across. It goes up and then curves downward towards the diamond bezel. I will do the diamonds graduating smaller to bigger in the curved part. I think the 2 bezeled stones are not so straight up and down below the prong set stone but are slightly angled. Does anyone see anything else? Thanks!

@peppermintpatty I love the flow of your inspiration ring, but I am worried by the fact the blue sapphire in that ring has eight massive prongs and a closed gallery. It might work for that sapphire but will it work for your gem?

Agree with @Niel that that a full bezel with a closed gallery might work for a diamond but it will make most colored stones look a lot darker.

A little less metal might add to the femininity of the ring.

@prs I have already let David know that the prong set ring has way too much metal and I want it more open like Niel's ring with the blue sapphire- her tiara ring. I sent him a picture from the side that shows exactly what it looks like. I haven't decide on prongs yet. My colored stone is only 6.3mm so I might have to go with delicate prongs.

The full bezel is a problem... I love the look of it. I may have to compromise and have David work his magic by opening it up with some type of scroll work. Something very simple.

Perhaps it will be more feminine that what it is right now... I hope I would still love it then.

Maybe I should just do the radiant and pear. It would be a whole lot easier :)
Thank you for your perspective. Your ring is stunning !
