I'm excited to embark on my first-ever jewelry creation! After spending all of our twenties always saving, being super responsible, and looking towards the future, DH and I are finally treating ourselves to a little splashing out. 
I purchased Arkieb's 2.19 lovely gray spinel, and I just picked it up today. It's my (slightly early) 30th birthday gift/push present (2 years late for my son or 5 weeks early for my daughter
) to myself. It's destined to be my regular wear RHR.
From looking at it in different lights, it's a mid-gray-purple indoors, a dark gray with bright white flashes in direct sunlight, and it throws light blue-gray if lit from the sides and below. Arkieb pointed out that it has a tiny window, but I only noticed it when it was in the box (visible in the in-box photo below).
I want to mount this in some sort of white gold diamond halo. I'm torn between a few of JuliaB's settings, and I'd LOVE any advice from you lovely folks! I'd especially like to hear things I haven't thought of/am ignorant of because I'm new to all this.
There is a tiny chip on the top of the stone, basically where a prong would go, and a small scratch just inwards of that (visible in the in-box photo). Not sure if this should affect my mounting choice at all.
So, my mount options:
