Help with Sapphire Stud earrings

Hello all,

I found this forum and it appears to be a wealth of knowledge. Knowledge that I certainly don’t have, but I hope can help me choose a pair of nice blue sapphire stud earrings. I’m looking for 2-2.5 tcw with a price range of 3-5k.

I’m willing to buy loose stones and have them set, but would prefer to be able to set them where bought for ease of purchase. Otherwise I’m open to suggestions for where to have them set. Leibish (linked below) appears expensive for the setting.

I would go for the Gemfix pair for sure. The Leibish Co. cushion pairs all show various degrees of extinction.

Also saw a lot of round sapphire pairs on James Allen. Any thoughts on those? Dont really like the james allen settings. looking for standard 4-prong.

I think that first, you can contact Gemfix to set them. They probably know enough people in the trade who can perform the service for you. Second, you should make friends with a local jeweller. Personal relationships will give you better prices.

I like the Gemfix pair too. I recall someone here a while back having Gemfix work with a jeweler across the hall from them to set a stone and they were happy with the results.

By the way, for my education can someone point out differences in these 2 sets of stones besides a bit of color?

Besides the color difference, the James Allen ones in my opinion are not cut as well, because they have large large large tilt windows.
